Chapter 42: Secrets

Itachi was extremely concerned for Sasuke's mental health, he couldn't help but wonder if he misjudged his ability to cope with everything that happened. He quickly catered to his side giving all his attention. Just as he does whenever he's in need. "Sasuke...You gotta tell me what's going on."

Even though he asked twice Sasuke wasn't speaking, tears streamed down his face as he avoided all eye contact. No one has ever seen him break down like this but his brother so he knew he was safe around him. If Sasuke was being honest with himself he wasn't exactly sure why he was feeling this way either so when his brother asked him what it was, it wasn't as if he was keeping anything from him he just didn't know. All he could do was shake his head and attempt to wipe away the tears that wouldn't stop.

Itachi didn't feel like he was doing enough, he moved to his bed and wrapped his arms around him. "I'm here...Sasuke." It wasn't until physical contact happened that he actually heard Sasuke cry. The sounds couldn't be mistaken for anything other then crying. His breathing was all over the place and his heart rate had only increased. He was hurt by something but what it was wasn't something Itachi could pin point without words.

"It hurts.." Sasuke barely managed to sneak those words out, the fact he had complained about physical pain was concerning. "What hurts? Your head?" Itachi asked making sure he wasn't causing any pressure in their embrace. "No."

Itachi leaned back and put his two fingers under Sasuke's chin to lift his face so their eyes would meet. Sasuke had flushed cheeks and his eyes were swelling from the hard cry. "What hurts Sasuke?" The older Uchiha's voice was more stern then he wanted it to be but they weren't going to get anywhere without a solid answer.

"My heart..." Sasuke said before letting out another sorrowful cry, he pulled his face away from Itachi's fingers and burrowed his face into his brothers chest letting out the tears he must have been holding for far to long. When the words escaped his lips flashbacks of seeing Naruto kissing Suigetsu tormented his mind. He wanted to express it verbally but it was hard for him to get the frog out of his throat.

Itachi couldn't help but feel even more worried, at first he thought it was something quite literally physical, but the longer he thought about it the more he realized that he meant it felt broken.

"You know you can't blame him Sasuke. It wasn't his fault." His words only angered Sasuke, causing the younger one to push his brother off of him and slam a fist down onto the bed. "Tch! Don't you think I know that!" His voice started low but only got louder as more words left his mouth. "I can't blame him! But that doesn't make me any less mad at him! I'm trying I really am! But..." He paused for a moment before looking up at his brother with evil intent in his eyes. Almost as if his eyes were straining.

"I'm going to kill that piece of shit that I once called a friend!" Itachi's eyes widened in shock to see his brother so erratic. "Sasuke..."

"That sorry son of a bitch...I can't believe he did this!" Sasuke grit his teeth before slamming his fist down onto the mattress again and then once more. "I swear...when I get out of here...I'm going to beat him to a pulp." Sasuke's voice was extremely sinister there was nothing innocent about it, his intention was extremely clear.

Itachi leaned over and grabbed Sasuke's hand before he could slam it against the bed again. "Sasuke!..Stop..." His voice sounded like a parent disciplining their child. "You hear me?" Itachi said as he grabbed Sasuke's jawline and redirected his gaze to face him. "Do you want to spend the rest of your life in jail over some shit head?" His voice became even harsher. "Naruto has nobody! At least you have me to turn too! Don't you dare abandon him like everyone else! Going to prison for life is just the same as being dead! You hear me Sasuke? He almost lost you once....hell...I almost lost you once! Stop this selfish act and grow up!" He pulled his hand away from the young man's face and stood up.
