A man in his late 40s was sited on the sofa of Copra Nivas. The AC was set on its lowest temperature, still there were sweat droplets on his forehead. He was nervous, scared, and excited all at the same time. And why would he not be, after all he is here to fix the alliance of his one and only niece Koyal.
"Uday ji I like your niece, she is prefect to be the wife of my grandson and the daughter in law of this household." said a man in his mid- seventies and the man beside him who was in his early 50s nodded his head in agreement. Hearing this Uday smiled in relief. " I am glad that you thought my Koyal was capable to be a member of your household kakaji." "Toh rishta pakka samjhe Uday ji?" asked Amar Preet Chopra, grandfather of Vardhaan. "Kakaji mainu bhi apaṇi Koyal ke waste Varadhan bahuta pasada hai para kise vi gala di pusaṭi karana se pahilae mainu apaṇi bhatiji naal puchaṇa paega."
[So is the alliance fixed?]
[Uncle I also like Vardhaan for my Koyal but before comfirming anything I will have to ask my niece.]
"Hmm, kab aarai si Koyal Mumbai se?"asked Akhil Chopra father of Vardhaan. [When is Koyal returning from Mumbai?]
"She will be here by tomorrow evening." replied Uday Arora, Koyal's uncle.
"Ok so we will confirm by Friday morning, and I expect the same from you as well Uday ji" said Amar Preet. "Yes sure." relied Uday, he wanted to ask a few questions but refrained himself due to his tendency to overthink. However, Akhil noticed the hesitation on his face. "Uday ji please feel free to ask any queries you have, don't refrain yourself." said Akhil. "Yes, please ask akhir tusi apaṇi dhi de rahe ho" said Amar Preet in agreement. [Yes, please ask after all you are giving your daughter.]
Hearing this, Uday took some courage and finally asked, "My niece is a doctor; she really loves working in hospitals treating people; she wishes to study and work further and achieve her dreams. Will your family support her and her dreams?" "Of course, I want a wife for my Vardhaan who is equal to him, not some house help." Amar Preet said immediately. "Yes, I will make sure her dreams are fulfilled. You have our word, Uday ji," said Akhil. Hearing this, Uday smiled in satisfaction. Taking a photo of Vardhaan Uday left for his house.
