Chapter 3

Chopra Nivas

"Hm... Kudi de soni lagti hai" "Bilkul dudh vargi hai" said two ladies looking at the photograph of Koyal. These ladies were Gayetri Chopra and Smita Chopra, mother and aunt of Vardhaan. [Hm... The girl looks very preety] [She is absolutely very fair]. "Wow.... Is she going to be our Bhabhi (sister in law)? She looks really gorgeous and stunning" commented Amrita Chopra Vardhaan's sister. "yes we can't wait to welcome her in our family" said the two Chopra brothers Abhinav and Sameer .  

All the members of the Chopra family were overjoyed with the news of the alliance, except for one person. Daljeet Chopra Vardhaan's grandmother, who sat on the sofa with a frown, her eyes were glancing across the room as her family members discussed about the marriage among themselves. Her discomfort went unnoticed by most, but her husband Amarpreet Chopra noticed the look on her face. He placed a hand on her shoulder and asked gently, "What's on your mind? Do you have any concerns or suggestions?"

Daljeet let out a deep sigh and spoke her mind, "I'm happy for the alliance, but I can't help but worry about the future. Has this girl, who has lived her entire life in hostels and a nuclear family, ever been in a big joint family before? Will she be able to adjust? I know she is Tej Bhaishab's granddaughter, but he was not the one who raised her. Furthermore, she is a doctor and wants to continue her studies and work after marriage. We all know how hectic doctors' schedules can be, with no fixed work timings. Will she be able to make time for her family and her husband? Will she understand my grandson's needs and keep him happy? Is she really the perfect wife for him? I fear for my Vardhaan's happiness."

After hearing Daljeet, all the members fell silent. Despite the harshness of her words, everyone knew there was some truth in what she was saying. Even Amarpreet, who had been the most enthusiastic about the alliance, grew quiet. The previously happy atmosphere of the house was now replaced by a tense one. Sensing the tension both the daughter in laws went to make the dinner. Akhil and Akash went to do some office work, and the younger clan went to their respective rooms. Amarpreet went to the terrace for some deep thinking, whereas Daljeet went to the temple for her evening prayers.

After approximately three hours, everyone gathered around the dining table for dinner. That's when Amarpreet cleared his throat to gain everyone's attention. "I thought about what you said Daljeet and you may be right in some way. However I still believe she will be the best match for our Vardhaan. You mentioned that as a doctor, she will be a workaholic but isn't our Vardhaan the same way ? And as for adjusting to the family, every girl, no matter where she comes from, needs to adjust to her new family. Moreover, she won't be staying with us; she will be living with Vardhaan in Delhi, so I don't think there will be any problem." Listening to this everyone smiled and nodded their head in agreement, except the one and only Daljeet.

Everyone understood she is still not convinced so Akash Chopra Vardhan's uncle spoke for the first in regards to this alliance. "Ma, I think that the girl is a doctor is no valid reason for us to say no to this alliance. It takes years of hard work and dedication that goes into becoming a doctor. So ma, I feel Koyal's profession is a source of pride rather than a cause for concern. So many people dream of becoming a doctor but only a few achieve this dream. There are so many female doctors who successfully balance their professional and personal lives, and there's no reason for us to believe that Koyal would be any different." Akash verbally mentioned  his thoughts to which Akhil added "Furthermore ma, choosing a life partner is about finding someone who shares your values and goals, someone with whom you can build a life together based on mutual respect and love. Koyal's career is just one aspect of who she is, and it shouldn't be the sole focus of your decision." Gayetri also spoke in support of her husband "Yes mummy ji and I was also from a nuclear family only but did I not adjust here? I guess with time Koyal will get used to our family."

"Yes Bebe and we will be there to help our bhabhi if she will have problem in adjusting with the family or understanding Bhai" said the Chopra siblings together. Amarpeet smiled in satisfaction hearing his family members. Daljeet still did not believe that Koyal was the right match for Vardhaan but hearing her family she remained silent, praying to the almighty for her elder grandson's happiness.

"Vardhaan is coming here tomorrow morning right?" asked Amarpreet "Yes papa ji" replied Smita. " Then our biggest concern is to make Vardhaan ready for the marriage" Akhil said with concern. "Exactly, this boy just seems to stubborn to fulfil his family's this wish" a worried Gayetri commented. Even Amarpreet's biggest concern was this only, but he was adamant to make Vardhaan say a YES for Koyal. "Bhaiya se yeh baat karega kon?" Amrita questioned her family members. "Ha Vardhaan se baat kon khega?" Smita also asked the same as her daughter. [Who will talk to Vardhaan in regards to this matter?]

But before anyone could answer them they all heard a voice and everyone froze on their seats hearing the voice.
