Vardhaan's POV
"Vardhaan so what do you want to know?" She asked.
"Everything Koyal, but it seems you have a lot to talk about and you can't seem to find how to start then let me only ask you." I said and she nodded in approval.
"Okay why did you marry me at the age of 23?" I asked, and she looked surprised.
"You know you are giving me business meeting interview type look and feel." She said with a small very small on her face.
"Well let's say I am used to such way of talking, it mostly comes in my favor." I said chuckling.
"Is it important to answer?" She asked me.
"Yes, Koyal it is. From the starting of our marriage we have never been asked about our opion. We in a way were forced, manipulated to marry each other. Ours was not a marriage but a compromise. A compromise made by a son, for his parents, for a chance he wanted in his life to prove himself. Our relationship was a compromise made by a daughter, a granddaughter, to fulfill her grandparent's last wishes, to do something which her mother was supposed to do, but couldn't so as a filial daughter she did the compromise. But now Koyal I want to turn this compromise into a marriage if you are willing to of course. And if we want to do this, then let's clear everything from the beginning. And this time be honest Koyal. No crying, and changing the point. Yes?" I said.
"Ha bhai, aaj mauka mila hai, sara lecture aaj hi suna de sab. Na jaane kab se bore kar raha hai bichari ko." My conscience butted in again. "Shut up, lecuture nahi tha." "Sure whatever makes you sleep." "aaah,"
[Yes brother, today you have got a chance, give the entire lecture today itself. I don't know how long this poor guy has been boring.]
"Vardhaan" "VARDHAAAN"
"Huh"
"Kha kho gaye the, Maine tum se baat kar rahi thi par tumne nahi suna." She complained.
[Where were you lost, I was talking to you but you did not listen.]
"Ooh sorry, who teen saal phele ki ek baat yaad agai thi" I said. "Liar"
[Uh sorry, I remembered something from three years ago]
"Okay Koyal so tell me why did you marry me?" I asked.
"As you know Vardhaan, it was my maternal grandparents wish no last wish that I marry you. And my chachu and mama also found you to be a decent person and your family to be a good family as well so I agreed to marry you." She said.
"Okayyy but you must have had already cleared level 1 of USMLE and given the exam for level 2 when the alliance was proposed to you, did you think about it while deciding." I asked.
"Uggh no, my mind was filled with my chachu's words and my nani, her condition that I did not think of it for even a split second. I remembered about it only when I saw the result 2 days after our engagement." She said.
"Hmm so before seeing the result were you happy? I mean...with..." I was sying when she cut me off and said, "Yes I was. I was happy to marry you Vardhaan. And why? That is a story for some other day. None of your questions or answers go in that direction. For now just know I was initially happy to marry you." She said. And man that made me happy. So so so happy. My wife was happy to marry me. A big smile broke on my face after a really long time.
"I am grateful to know that. Yet, why did you not say anyone about your result Koyal? You know your life would have been different had you done that. Why?" I asked and she was quiet for a few minutes. Her eyes started to water. Slowly after a few minutes she mumbled "It was too late to say anyone anything." Same thing she said 3.5 years back as well.
