"SURPRISE!!!!" An excited Koyal shouted as soon as she reached her brother's cabin. All looked at her in astonishment and why wouldn't they? Rarely people have the confidence to enter Aditya's cabin with his permission and here this lady standing in front of them not only entered without his permission but also shouted in a clearly higher pitch than their partner or boss would like. Feeling everyone's gaze on her did only Koyal realize her brother was not alone, there were people present. She started feeling awkward. Whereas Aditya was really surprised and happy.
"Let's continue this meeting some other time." Aditya said, his employees nodded and were about to leave. When Aditya's business partner gave him a gleeful and mischievous looks, so Aditya felt the need to introduce his sister so he said, "Tarun meet, my sister Koyal" Hearing this everyone's doubt was clearly. For a second everyone had gotten a shock when they saw Koyal, cause considering how emotionless Aditya was no one could imagine him having a girlfriend.
After everyone left, Aditya hugged his sister. His eyes were glaze full. "Such a wonderful surprise it is. I did not know my little sweetheart was in Delhi" Koyal smiled at her brother. "I was about to come to Chandigadh this weekend again to meet you, but you are here." "Yaa, this time I had come for a three months but one month's almost finished." "Aah, dosen't matter atleast I will get to see you more, now that you are here." "Hmm"
"Bhaiya" "Yes?" "Does your office canteen still have those hot chocolate and waffles in their menu?" "I don't know, but if you want I will order, wait" Aditya replied. As he called the canteen, both of them could feel the other persons shock and terror. Koyal laughed and asked, "Do you ever call them yourself?" "No" "Hmm, now his shock is understood, stop scaring people" Aditya rolled his eyes. "Let's head, home" Aditya said once he was finished clearing up his schedule and Koyal finished eating.
"It was like reliving past" Koyal said as they were seated in the car, to which Aditya gave a questioning look. "Those hot chocolate and waffles, I still remember, when I was in school, Papa used to work and I would sit on his chair and munch them, whenever I visited him after school, then when I was in college it was you working and me eating." Aditya smiled and said, "Ha, tu bachpan se hi bhookhad hai" "Bhaiyaaa" "What I stating facts, remember when mummy used to make those khadai panner pulao you would eat the most, and don't even get me started about the sweets, once you eat all of them, I couldn't even taste them." Aditya teased her. "It was my birthday, the kheer was tasty so I thought it was only for me." Koyal said in her defense.
[Yaa, you were gluttonous ever since childhood.]Koyal was in talking to Aditya all through the way followed in his apartment. Let's say that the Koyal who couldn't speak to Vardhaan for more than ten minutes was talking uncontrollably here. She was telling about her work, Abhinav's marriage, her fight with Payaal and everything. And Aditya was listening to her patiently. She also demanded to eat matar panner dal tadka and rice. Aditya very happily started cooking for her.
His heart had swelled with happiness. After three years, apartment was not looking like just a property he owned but a home. It was not silent, but filled with his sister's talk, laughter and complains. For the past three years, he was sad that his sister had drifted far from him, matured and changed. But he was wrong. Maybe she never felt like home in Chandigadh. Nevertheless he was happy to talk to his sister like before.
Koyal also felt very happy to be with her brother like the past. Koyal always felt at peace with her brother, he was the only person, with whom she could always be herself. Talk as she wished, without fearing to be judged. If Koyal missed anything about her personal life in US then it would only be her brother. If Koyal truly worried for someone without being bounded by any responsibility, without any duty, but genuinely than it would be Aditya, and now somewhere Vardhaan as well. She cared for these two people genuinely, and not because it was her duty to care for them, or she was expected to. She cared for them, cause she wanted to.
After lunch Aditya and Koyal were settled on the sofa, waiting for the brownies to be baked. "So bittu, you said about so many things, so many people, but not Vardhaan. Everything okay between you both? He is treating you right?" Aditya asked. "Yes, he is, everything is okay. It's just that I am too awkward in front him. He is really sweet, he tries his best to make me comfortable, to befriend me. But I just can't" She replied a little gloomily."Hmm, why is that? Did he take no step to know you in the past three years?" Aditya questioned his sister. "He did, infact, most of our conversations, calls were initated by him. Then, you know Rahul's misunderstanding happened, even then eery birthday, anniversary and Valentines I have recived flowers and chocolates from him. He tries his best but I just can't reciprocate to him," She answered.
"Okaay,so why is it Koyal, did you like someone else? Did you meet someone in US? Do you want to leave him?" Aditya inquired "No, nothing like that. I don't want toleave him. You know while this Rahul's misunderstanding was going on, Vardhaanthought, I did not want to marry him, so he even proposed divorce, but when hementioned, it hurt me deep, I don't want to leave him." Koyal said truthfully."Hmm, I get it. Koyal I know you were not ready at all for this wedding. I don't even know how chachu chachi even brainwashed for you agreed to marry. See sweetheart if you want to back out from this even now I am with you, but if not, you need to put efforts as well. In these three years as much I have known Vardhaan he is a good person. He seems as lonely as you and me despite having a full joint family, I don't know why but I do. I always thought he was avoiding you but that doesn't seem the case. Know one thing, if he is the only one putting efforts he will eventually be tired, if not in these three years than in the next three years but he will be tired and frustrated from all of it. You need to learn to communicate with him, communication is vital in any relationship. You have to make an effort to listen to his thoughts, feelings, and concerns, and express your own thoughts and emotions clearly. You have to take the initiative to spend quality time with him, and learn about his interests, hobbies, and values and tell him about yours. Try to see him as a friend before you see him as a husband. Maybe this will help you." Aditya advised Koyal.
"I will try" Koyal replied. "Listen I know you, I know you are too comfortable being like this, and you don't want to take efforts, but it's not fair to him, if you expect your husband to care for you take efforts he might be expecting the same." Aditya said again, not finding his sister's I will try too serious.
Koyal smiled sheepishly knowing that her brother knew her. "Bhaiya I took nearly three years to clear the misunderstanding about Rahul, do you think it has made negative impact on my and Vardhaan's life?" She asked, regretting not talking to Vardhaan before.
"I don't know, but it must have hurt him. And don't keep regretting about what's gone. If you don't make efforts now you will regret later. I always want to see you happy. But after knowing Vardhaan for three years, working with him, now I want to see him happy as well. He is a nice person. Someone with him I am assured will keep you happy. If I were to search a groom for you, it would probably be like him." He said."Hmm, I will, I will try bhaiya. Thank you for listening me, understanding me and give me an appropriate advice. Thank you bhaiya." She said and Aditya smiled. "Okay what do you want for dinner?" "Hmm... malai kofta and pulao." "Done, wait shall I call Vardhaan as well." Aditya asked his sister. "Sounds like plan." She replied grinned, suddenly she was missing Vardhaan and wanted to see him.
In the evening Vardhaan came. Koyal was shocked to see that her husband and brother bonded so well. Nevertheless she was happy that the two most important people of her life went well with each other. Her mind was dwelling on Aditya's words and soon she realized that she was too cold in their relation, too closed up. Maybe her brother was right she needs to first establish friendship with Vardhaan and not worry about anything else.
Hey Guy's
Seems like Aditya gave Koyal a much needed reality check, isn't it?
