"Koyal I am going out for a run. I will be back in an hour so. Okay?" Vardhaan said to Koyal, while combing his hair. Koyal nodded while rubbing her eyes with both her plams. All her hair was messed up, her face was devoid of any make up, and looked a little dull as well. Even though, it was a heartwarming sight for Vardhaan. He could see her though the mirror. When he saw her, his action stopped, his heart beat stop, and his time stopped, all he could see was her.
"Vardhaan" "Vaardhaan" "Varrrdhaaann" "Huh, yes what happened, why are you shouting?" "Why am I shouting? I was calling you since a long time but you were zoned out. What happened?" Koyal questioned him. "Aa..I...I was thinking about the new deal that I am sigining today. Sorry. Why were you calling me?" Vardhaan said. "Liar liar pants on fire. Vardhaan you shouldn't lie early in the morning. Tell her the truth Vardhaan. Wait do you have the guts?" His own conscience mocked him.
"I was telling that shall I join you as well? I also have a habit of exercising." Koyal said. "Ya sure, I will wait for you." Vardhaan said, coming out from his thoughts. Soon Koyal came out for exercising. She was wearing a simple and plain black and white tracksuit. When Vardhaan saw her, once again he was utterly mesmerized by her looks. "I wasn't wrong on saying she is beautiful, the first time we saw her picture." His inner self said, and he could just agree to it. "My wife is indeed beautiful" He thought.
"I am going for a run, what about you?" Vardhaan asked as they were approaching the park. "I will also run." "Okay great, let's run." He said. "Is there any park near by? I hope you are not taking me somewhere in the car." Koyal asked him. "What no, we have a park in the community itself you know." Vardhaan explained her. "Hmm, Let's go" She said. "After you." He replied.
They were about to run, when an early morning downpour, stopped their activity. "Ugh what do we do now, we don't even have an umbrella. This is untimely rain, it will get us sick." Koyal whined to Vardhaan, and he just chuckled. "Come on, our house literally 10 minutes away, lets run back, there is no shelter near. We won't get sick. If we do, I will make you soup. Okay?" Vardhaan tried to pacify his wife. Just as they were about to go back they heard a voice.
"Hey Vardhaan, where are you going? Its raining, come to my house." Vardhaan looked back, and smiled at the elderly man. "Sure uncle" He replied him and the rain started pouring harder so Vardhaan held Koyal's hand and walked towards that man's house. Once they reached the house, there was awkwardness filled between the trio. The elderly man was staring at Koyal and Koyal was looking around. Vardhaan understood the situation and he knew what to do. "Uhh, Koyal this is Mr. Bhanu Mishra, our neighbor." He said looking at Koyal then he looked at Mr. Mishra and continued "And uncle meet Koyal my wife."
"Oh, so you are his wife. Welcome to our house dear. It was so great meeting you. Sit sit" Mishra uncle said. They sat down and had a really long chat with Mishra uncle and his wife Needhi aunty. Soon it was 8 a.m, Vardhaan was now getting late so he said, "Uncle, why don't we catch up later I have a really important meeting at 10." "Sure sure" Mishra uncle replied. All of them looked outside the window, it was still raining cats and dogs. "Why don't you both take an umbrella from us?" Needhi aunty suggested to which all of them agreed.
Just when they were about to leave, Needhi aunty invited Koyal saying, "Dear why don't you both join us for dinner tonight." She looked at Vardhaan who gave her an "I am okay with it" look so she politely accepted the old lady's invite. Now Koyal and Vardhaan were heading towards their home. It was raining heavly Koyal was holding the umbrella really high for Vardhaan but due to their height difference neither was she able to keep both of them covered nor was she able to walk properly and so was Vardhaan.
"Koyal, let me hold the umbrella, we are getting wet like this." He said to her. "But I like to walk holding the umbrella while raining." She said to him. "We will reach soon, I will hold more properly for you okay? Don't take the umbrella away from me." She requested. Now Vardhaan was in a dilemma. He didn't want to upset Koyal but at the same time, he didn't want any of them to get hurt walking in this awkward way.
"Koyal just give me the umbrella." He said, she pouted hearing this but never the less she gave him, not wanting him to think that she was childish and stubborn. Vardhaan took the umbrella held it in a comfortable position then he looked at his sad wife. Slowly he took her right hand and kept it on the handle. Koyal gave him a questioning look so he said, "I know you said you like to hold the umbrella, but it was uncomfortable to walk so like this we both can hold it like this, I hope you don't mind."
That's when she looked at her position. They were so close, and were looking like a utterly in love type couple. Koyal's cheek slightly reddened seeing his hand above hers, held together and she smiled and said, "I don't mind" "as long as it's you" in her mind. Soon they reached their house. Vardhaan rushed to get ready for office, while Koyal checked some mails.
Before going Vardhaan called "Koyal" "I know you are not a too party person, and you don't like going to peoples houses, but we have to attend this one and a few more. Actually Mishra uncle and his son are my clients for a few project and I just couldn't deny this dinner request. And now that we have accepted this we may have a few more undeniable invites. I will try my best to not trouble you with these." He explained.
"Hey, relax, I have no problem, I know how important it is to bond with your partners and client. I used to go on a lot of such dinners with my papa mumma and bhai. Besides I liked Needhi aunty. Its not a trouble, I may make some friends as well you know. So relax, and go." She replied to him. Vardhaan felt so warm from within, listening to her, Dhruv and Vivek had told him about how much she hates socialising, so when she said those words, he felt really good. As he was walking towards Koyal shouted "Vaardhaan" he turned back to see her then she shouted again "ALL THE BEST! Rock your meeting." Vardhaan smiled real big and said thank you and left with a smile.
After Vardhaan had left for the office, Koyal felt a sudden urge to revisit her wedding days. She reached into her luggage and pulled out her wedding album and video, which had been resting there for three years, untouched. She never felt to look at them, not even once. She couldn't explain why today, she felt this strong desire, need to reminisce those precious moments. Slowly, she unwrapped the album and pressed play on the video player, reliving the memories of that special day.
