My mother was silently listening to me while the side of her lips were up. It looks like she’s enjoying it too.
Natigilan ako at nakatitig sa kaniya.
She seemed like she had lost some weight during the past months I was gone, and below her eyes was a big dark circle. I know the father is taking good care of the mother, but knowing her, no one can stop her if she has already decided what she wants to do.
“… Shiro?”
I blinked twice when I came back to my senses.
“Yes, mother?”
“Kanina pa kita tinatawag, are you okay?” She asked.
Tumango ako at ngumiti, "I’m okay, don’t worry about me." I yawned. "Matutulog po muna ako, I’m lacked of sleep because of the exam—" natigilan ako ng may maalala, "Yeah, the exam! I passed the exam, mom! I’m in rank 7. Can you believe it? " Masayang sabi ko.
Ang akala ko ay matutuwa rin siya sa akin, pero iba ang nakita kong reaksyon niya. Neither happy nor delighted, I just saw regret and pain in her eyes.
My shoulder fell and I frowned.
“Mother, what’s wrong—”
She averted her eyes and immediately stood up. "Matulog kana, don’t worry about the mess. I’ll come back after ten minutes." She said, and shut the door.
I went to my stuff and fixed it by myself while still thinking about why my mother didn’t like the news I’d said to her. Isn’t it what we wanted? Para makapagpatuloy ako sa pag-aaral. Iyon din naman ang gusto niya noon…
Or maybe she only likes it because I like it.

Nang matapos ako sa pagliligpit ay pumunta ako sa aking kama at humiga dito.I missed this room. I missed the wall, the book shelves I own, and the window in my room. I hugged my pillow and gazed at the sky through my window. Seconds passed. The lullaby that came from the crickets made me fall asleep.
When I woke up, it was already dark outside. Napabalikwas ako ng bangon at dali-daling lumabas sa kwarto.
“I overslept, what do you want for dinner, leo—” natigilan ako ng makita ang magulang ko sa sala at nagkakape. Realization rush through me. “oh, I’m home.” I muttered.
My father smiled at me and said, "Yes, you are. Come here, anak."
My heart was filled with excitement as I ran towards my father. I hugged him from his side and leaned my head against his shoulder. I also missed my father, who was always calm yet whose words could affect me so much.
"I missed you too, papa." I whispered.
Naramdaman ko ang pagyakap niya sa akin. He kissed the top of my head.
"I also want to hear your story about school. Do you have time?" Aniya. Umayos ako ng upo at tumango.
Our gaze went to my mother when she stooped up. My shoulder fell when I assumed that she was mad at me, but I think I am just imagining things. Because she smiled at me and patted my head.
