Shiro
I could not feel anything except the feeling of being betrayed. It is obvious that they were talking about my real mother. I am the child they were referring to, even though they didn’t say it directly. My mother has been good to me since the day I remember, and my father has always been patient with me.
Like I say, I wasn’t hurt, I just felt betrayed. Because I once asked them if I was adopted, I will understand if they say the truth. But they deny it and keep on saying that I am their child.
If only they told me the truth, things would have become easier for me.
"Did you hear what you wanted to hear, Julian? Can you please get lost and bring your son with you? " sigaw ni mama.
"All we said was true, Julian. No one can sense it. Marissa and her husband died; all that was left was their child—"
"Then, the child in that room is Marissa’s daughter. Can I talk to her?"
He asked, referring to me. I put my hands over my mouth to prevent myself from creating a noise from sobbing. I heard his footsteps coming, but then I also heard footsteps running from my direction.
"She doesn’t know anything—"
“Come on, Maria. You’re too loud a while ago; she probably heard it already! "
"No! I sealed her room. She wouldn’t know anything! Anak ko s'ya at hindi ‘yon magbabago. She doesn’t need to know the truth; just let her live in peace! " My mother's begging tone made my heart ache.
The seal is probably my mother’s ability. I am not shocked anymore. Because I already presume that if they both grew up here, they would also possess an ability. But my parents did not know that any kind of ability was not working for me.
I wonder what my father’s ability is. Or my real parents and my siblings. I want to know.
I heard a man take a deep sigh and the sound of his steps getting away.
“I’ll leave... but let my son stay here just for this night. I didn’t bring my car. Tumakbo lang ako papunta dito para madaling maka punta. I was so terrified when I heard the news and I was not thinking straight." He said. His voice is full of worry for his son. "And it’s too cold outside."
I heard my father chuckle. "I bet you used our secret passage to come here, am I right?"
Sebastian’s father chuckled too.
"As always, That is the way I see it, Marissa... Anyway, Maria, I promise to not tell Shiro about this, but I will not stop my son from going near your daughter. It’s his choice. I want my son to follow what he really wants. "
I lie on my bed and cover my whole body with my thick blanket.
I groaned when I felt my head flinch and start to ache. I have known too much information today. I haven't been able to get proper peace of mind since I came home.
Just like that, and once again, I fell asleep with a heavy heart and dizzy mind.
The nocturnal sounds of the dark forest made me wake up. I remember that I slept in my bed, but when I woke up, I saw myself in the middle of a dark forest. The eerie sound of the crow gives me goosebumps. It’s been a while since I last saw this forest. This is the forest I saw in my dream when I first stepped into the academy, and this is also the forest I saw in the fear test. But unlike the first and second times I saw this, this time I did not feel any fear. I somehow remained calm and observed my surroundings.
