Chapter 24

Since Serena was still quiet, Sif went ahead with her speech. Sif asked Serena, "Serena, are the Elite Guards more important to you than Loki?' Serena's eyes shot up and she exclaimed, "No! I love Loki more than anything else in this realm." Sif then asked Serena, "If that's true, Serena then quit the Elite Guard and spend time with Loki." Serena replied, "I love Loki AND being in the Elite Guard." Sif answered, "Well, you MAY NOT be able to have both, Serena. You might have to choose one or the other. If it comes down to that, who will you choose? The Elite Guard OR Loki?" Serena responded, "That's not fair, Sif. Why DO I have to choose when you didn't? You got to keep both Thor and the Elite Guard. Why can't I?" Sif said, "Because in my fist battle, I DIDN'T ALMOST DIE, and you did." Serena asks Sif, "You mean to tell me that you NEVER got hurt in your first battle?" Sif replied, "No that's not what I'm saying. I DID get hurt in my first battle BUT I didn't almost die. I only had superficial wounds. You almost DIED SERENA!" Sif calmed down a little and said, "Serena, I was born here in the palace and was taught how to defend myself from an early age and you have not. You were born in the city of Asgard, with only dreams of becoming an Elite Guard and I was destined for it." Serena gets mad at Sif, "You mean to tell me after ALL of these years we've known each other that you're better than me because you were born in the palace, and I wasn't!" Sif tries to explain to Serena, 'No Serena. I'm not better than you, I've just had more training than you." Serena said, "But you trained me Sif for the tryouts." Sif replied, "But Serena, one week of training doesn't compare to years of experience. I'm sorry." Serena got quite again.

Sif tells Serena, "Serena I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I was just trying to be honest with you. You ARE a good Elite Guard, but you just don't have the experience that I do when it comes to fighting." Sif looked at Serena and said, "Say something, Serena." Serena asks, "What do you want me to say, Sif? You made your point. I'm not good enough to be in the Elite Guards. That my winning the tryouts was a fluke." Sif replied, "I didn't say that Serena." Serena interrupted Sif, "But I did and maybe you're right." Sif responded, "No, Serena it wasn't a fluke. You ARE a good warrior just inexperienced in fighting. Maybe with time you could get the experience but for now I think you need to practice more and spend time with Loki. He could teach you some skills and I will continue to help you." Serena lowered her head and asked, "You think I need to tell the All Father that I want out of the Elite Guards." Sif answered, "Yes, I do and spend some time learning how to fight better." Serena let out a deep sigh and replied, "Fine. I'll go to the All Father and tell him." Sif said, "That's the best thing, Serena. I would also suggest that you talk to Loki as well," Serena shook her head "yes." Sif went over to Serena and hugged her. Sif then left Serena but what they didn't know was that Loki was standing outside the door and heard everything. When Loki saw Sif coming out, he teleported into a different room and waited until Sif left.
