The only noise that filled the December air, was the whistle that echoed off of the red brick wall from train station, announcing its arrival. the rain that collected on the widow pane, now dripped off splashing the railway with its freshness.

Tom's pov

stepping off the red locomotive i was greeted the the smell of the coal and fire that had been burning in the engine. carrying my oxford suitcase in one hand and in my other was the hand of the girl that i held so dearly. waiting for her to spot her father in the sea of family's greeting their children home for Christmas. i was dragged in the direction of a brunette woman waving, holding her arms out wide for the long awaited embrace.

"Oh, darling i've missed you terribly. the manor was so quiet with you gone" the woman spoke with softness and warmth, she circled her arms around the small girl burying her in her chest. something odd stuck me about the duo. Odette looked nothing like the woman before us. sure she might have had her hair but thats about it. as if sensing my presence, the woman's eyes snapped to mine. her eyes where a shockingly silverly blue definitely not the coffee orbs i was expecting.

"And you must be Tom!" not even having time to register what was happing, i was enveloped into a warm hug, feeling my body stiffen, i look over the woman's shoulder to see Odette giving me an apologetic smile.

"Lovely to meet you ma'am. i'm one of Odette's friends. i hope you don't mind me staying with you. " i voiced, lifting my lips in a charming smile.

"Oh Nonsense, you'r welcome here anytime son! i've heard all about you in Odette's letters" she said, a mischievous glint in her sliver eyes.

grabbing onto me and Odettes arms, she pulled is in tight to her side before muttering a small "Hold on tight, don't want to get yourself Splinched."

Snapping my head quickly at the elderly woman, panic easily showing itself on my face. soon all that filled my vision was a swarm of darkness, my whole body felt like liquid, feeling my insides being tugged and twisted to each end of my body was nauseating.

feeling my feet finally touch solid ground was euphoric, but that didn't stop me from hurling over trying to keep what i ate this morning down, squeezing my eyes shut, feeling the tiny prickling behind my eyes.

"Tom are you okay?" came Odette's voice.

"don't worry darling it's perfectly normal, every wizard or witch is like that on their first time"

Odette's pov

looking over at the raven haired boy that was hurled over, placing his hands on his knees for support. i couldn't help but feel the tiniest bit guilty.

straighten his back, he smoothed down his grey blazer ridding of any wrinkles. looking at him closely you could tell he wasn't well. his normal pale completion now lightened a few shades...if thats even remotely possible. his neatly combed hair was dishevelled and stuck to his forehead due to sweat. His black tie that was normal prefect was shifted to the side.

sighing, i took him by the hand and led him up towards the manor.

"I'll take him to his room Mama" I voiced.

walking up the lane to the manor, i couldn't help but take in the childhood home. At the end of the garden sat the magnolia manor. its walls covered in thick ivory, surrounding most of the windows, the alcove's that arched around the entrance look more enchanting in the snow. the evergreen bushes where now thick with freshly fallin snow, the lane itself was covered in the fresh blanket, the only footprints that could be seen where the two teenagers. looking over to the other side of the garden the once emerald green willow that hung over the lake was now bald and bland. its branches tickling the water below sending ripples through the water.
