THE DAY OF MIEKO'S EXECUTION
came. Neither Mieko or Nanami talked about it in the following days. Nanami was nervous. He was aware of the plan he, Gojo and Utahime had come up. He was afraid of going through with it. He swallowed all his fear, trying to be strong for Mieko as he straightened his tie out.
Surprisingly, despite her outburst the night before, Mieko was calm. She did her makeup sitting on the ground in the living room using an handheld mirror, she did her hair in the bathroom as Nanami brushed his teeth next to her, she got dressed all with a stoic face. She showed no emotions. She was calm, and lifeless. When she was finished getting ready, Gojo and Utahime were already at Nanami's. The four headed to the Higher Ups headquarters, quietly, not talking to each other.
When they arrived, Mieko stared up the long stairway to her doom. She spoke up, "I have one request." Mieko flatly said.
"Anything." Gojo quickly answered, tugging on the girl's arms to turn around to face him. She passed him a unreadable glare with a frown, turning around to instead face Nanami.
"Bury me with them in my arms. I don't want to be cemented." Mieko simply said, with little emotion. Nanami's face stayed still, as his heart broke at how she simply accepted her fate. "I don't care where I'm buried. Here, New York, Korea, in the ocean, I don't care. As long as I have them."
Before anyone could really process the heaviness of Mieko's request, she started to rush up the long staircase, leaving them at the bottom.
"H-hey Mieko, wait up!" Utahime instantly cried out, starting to run up beside the girl, Gojo and Nanami following suit.
"You guys can't come with me." Mieko raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, so get the hint." Nanami quickly said, grabbing her hand and interlocking their fingers, stopping Mieko on the steps while Utahime and Gojo continued onwards.
"Did you seriously think I'd let them just slaughter you?" Nanami asked, raising his own eyebrow a little into a hurtful expression.
"Nanami... there is nothing you can do, the higher-ups already call—" "Like fuck there's nothing I can do. You're my girl, I'm not going to let anything, or anyone hurt you."
Nanami stared down into Mieko's eyes that stared back at him, mirroring a similar expression to his. Slowly a smile overcame her face, as they headed in the building together, hand in hand.
The four walked down the hallway until they reached a door with a sign, written in chalk, CAROLINA MIEKO CHOI.
Nanami could feel Mieko's grip tighten on his hand, as her wide eyes caught sight of how casual, careless the higher ups were towards execution. Quickly her wide eyes fell, she lowered her head, and let go of Nanami's hand. He opened his mouth to comfort her, but Gojo already had opened the door, loudly exclaiming, sarcastically, "Hello my dear friends!"
