I feel the need to put a trigger warning, because this chapter has a bit more than canon-typical violence. I don't usually put unnecessary violence in this story, but for the sake of character portrayal I thought it fitting.

Also sorry for the long upload times in between chapters. I hope you guys can forgive me! This chapter is extra long, almost 6.5k words! Next ones will be shorter again though, I think. I can't tell yet :3

You weren't quite sure what to make of yesterday's events. On the one hand you were excited because you'd reached a new level of training and had finally found a way to reliably kill your presence within the force. On the other hand, to do that you had to focus on your father's murder. That wasn't pleasant and you wanted to curse Kylo for even showing you those memories again...but you had improved and got reminded of all that he'd taught you as a child. Memories, you'd purposefully buried deep down because they were painful.

But the void...it was a fascinating state to be in and if you wouldn't have promised Kylo to not do it again, you'd have spent a few hours training it. You laid in your bed, debating to do it still but then deciding against it. You'd promised.

You stared at the ceiling, waiting for the alarm to go off and send you on your way, but it didn't. Then you remembered that you didn't even have your data pad and that you now had no way to tell the time. Apparently, you'd just show up randomly today then.

You still hurried down but when you did, no one was surprised at you being a good hour late.

"I am sorry for being late," you excused yourself to Escyle when you encountered him on a hallway.

He nodded and went on, not acknowledging your existence any further. Alright. Someone had woken up on the wrong side of the bed.

"24! I was looking for you. Why didn't you answer my messages?" Rosie asked and hugged you from behind.

"I misplaced my data pad," you lied. "How are you? How was the rest of the shift yesterday?"

"Good and okay. Nothing much happened after you left. One of the Knights showed up this morning and said you'd be late. They're all so intimidating. It was the one with the silver mask?"

"Vicrul, and yes...I am late." You pretended you'd known about him excusing you.

"Did you eat breakfast yet?"

"I rushed down as soon as I could." As soon as you realized that you had no data pad and no alarm. "Didn't eat yet. Do you want to grab a snack?"

"Yes. Where were you?"

"Confidential."

She rolled her eyes. "In the morning? And yesterday? You disappeared so suddenly?"

"You haven't noticed that I leave at precisely 19:50 each night?"

"No. I mean, yes, I did, but I thought that because of all the new patients you'd stay."

You scoffed. "Planned to but I was interrupted. Didn't seem like any of you needed me anymore, though."

"It was super stressful without you here. It'd have been nice if you wouldn't have ditched us."

"Didn't you just say nothing happened after I left?" You were confused. Why was she angry at you?

"Nothing interesting but that doesn't mean nothing happened. It was a lot to do and we all had to do overtime."

Ah, lack of sleep made her annoyed. Rosie had always been darker than you, a sun-kissed skin from her home planet that kept her tanned even when only exposed to artificial lighting for months at a time. It hid the dark circles beneath her eyes well and you could only tell she had them if you looked really closely.
