Humans were one of the most adaptable species in the galaxy. They'd learned to do it from the very different climates their original planet had and they'd developed many mechanisms against various hazards, which in turn made them one of the most prominent species. Humans took a while to adapt to really hot climates, they started to sweat easier, changed the very makeup of their sweat and cooled themselves down more effectively while also reducing the loss of important salts. In the cold it was similar to the point where humans that had spent generations on cold planets had developed a different muscle makeup to those from hot ones; some even had an entirely different type of body fat to the rest. Overall, a fascinating lecture you'd once had the joy of listening to in university.
Since you'd become somewhat accustomed to the force, and the dark side of it, you'd also noticed a comparable change on yourself. The pressure and coldness coming from the Knights that had initially sent you into fight or flight mode had now become something akin to your ideal environment. The presence of the dark side was something you needed and when around them, you had an easier time working on your force blank.
Your abilities had also changed your body. Your default core temperature was now at 36°C, a staggering difference of 0,5-1°C. It didn't sound like much, but for all that you knew about the human body, it was a significant change. Nevertheless, it didn't affect your well-being or functionality. On the contrary, you were healthier, stronger, had more endurance; partially the merit of the strict training from the Knights.
The Knights had noticed something else as well. They didn't like your void much, claimed it gave them a headache and made it difficult to concentrate. Kylo complained of no such things, but he was strong with the force and trained well in it.
He'd continued to train you but after the incident with the prisoner he'd also noticed that you had another ability: you could not only eliminate yourself from the force and create a force blank, you could also destroy its presence. It was the same you'd done with the prisoner when you'd cut his connection and over the next weeks you trained it extensively.
In turn you slipped further from the force and slowly it turned into an effort for you to keep yourself present in it and not out of it. It was funny since you were the only one wearing black in a sea of teal-coloured doctors you should really be the one everyone noticed first but they didn't. Often the other doctors on the deck didn't even remember you'd shown up for work and as Rosie told you, they'd called you the sneakiest doctor of them all. They joked that the Knights just didn't know you were there and that was the only reason you were still alive. It was ridiculous to them, but none realized how close they were to the truth.
"Almost done. We can stitch her up soon," Dr Escyle said and you let out a quiet sigh of relief. This operation had been going on for hours and you had gotten bored half-way through.
You felt a mild increase in pressure. One of the Knights was approaching. It wasn't Kylo, it was too weak for that, but also not as weak as Vicrul or Trudgen. Kuruk wouldn't come get you and Ap'lek was polite so he wouldn't dare interrupt a surgery. It could only be Cardo or Ushar. Neither of which you had interacted much with so they probably didn't know about not interrupting you during surgery.
"MD-2442, less pressure please. Hey. Hey! Are you listening?"
You were staring at the door. ETA: 45 seconds. You could explain but...nah. Escyle wasn't worth the words.
"For fuck's sake. Where's your head today? Concentrate."
30 seconds. He was overreacting, you'd been quite present at the beginning but it wasn't your fault this surgery was mind bogglingly boring.
