Silence

There'd been dead silence between Kylo and you for a week. You hadn't tried to approach him. It had been his fault and he hadn't explained himself. And he hadn't approached you, why? You didn't know, but it was making you all the more angry.

So, you'd gotten yourself new weapons. You'd taken the lizard squad, headed out deep into the galaxy until you'd found a planet that sold very obscure weaponry and purchased proper firearms. The slug shooters, as some called them, shot metal projectiles instead of lasers and no one with a lightsabre would be able to deflect it. No, it'd melt when it came in contact, small pieces of hot glowing metal flying into every direction. The perfect weapon for someone that had been trained to be a jedi killer.

No one but your squad knew about this, and you intended to keep it that way.

Vicrul, Cardo and Ushar had approached you upon your return and asked for your help in exterminating part of the Resistance on Chirna. You'd accepted and in a moment of peace after a fight, warned them about Rey.

"What did Kylo want with Rey in the first place?" you asked, wiping the blood of some poor fellow off your armour.

"Turning her over to the dark side and into a Knight," Vicrul said. He didn't believe it himself. "He's tried it once or twice before. So far, she hasn't agreed to it. I assume he still clings to that idea."

Somehow, that thought stung. Had you just been scraps that Kylo had picked up after failing to turn Rey over to the dark side? Were you just a distraction? She was powerful, certainly more than you would ever be. She could use the force to strengthen her body and do things unheard off and all you could do was...not let her do that. And stitch people up. Fantastic.

"She's neither black nor white. She's grey." Kylo could have told you of his plans. But no, he made a secret out of Rey and her existence and importance, which pissed you off even more. Even though that anger was mixing with sadness and while you'd never admit it to anyone (least of all yourself) you just wanted to sit in a dark corner and not think about it. Cry, maybe, even. "Vicrul, I've got a favour to ask."

"Anything for you, love," he said and either didn't mean to make it sound like a joke or the voice modulator completely destroyed any difference in vocal tone.

"Rey is no match for you. Either of you, maybe even a few of you together. I saw that you two played with her, took turns and just wore her out but her power within the force almost matches Kylo's. Don't give me that look, you do not believe it, but it is the truth. She's untrained, uncoordinated. Her grasp on and over the force is like a child playing with toys in a sandbox. She is weak now, but she will get stronger. During the fight, I felt her match Kylo's energy. I do not know what she is, or how she does it but it isn't like any of you. Be wary of her, that's all I am saying. From all of the Knights, you have the greatest understanding of the force. I know you do not see it as important as physical prowess but train it. Train it hard. And Cardo and Ushar, you two need to train it as well. And watch out for Ap'lek."

"I know," Vicrul said, listening and somewhat intrigued by your commanding tone. Cardo and Ushar looked up, then at each other, then back at you. They didn't oppose you, didn't comment on it. Their body language was tense. They knew you were telling the truth.

"And train me. I've been training by myself these past weeks because everyone has been too busy but we can find time. I can't face Rey like this. And no more holding back."

"You plan to try to kill her again?"

"I would have succeeded if it wouldn't have been for Kylo, but she is going to absolutely obliterate me if we are to face each other in melee. I can't let that happen."
