//Preface: It contains a bit of character building for you :)
You'd always been a bit of a solitary animal. You didn't mind other people, no, in fact, you quite enjoyed their company but you just as well enjoyed your own. For you the best way to relax was to simply do things you enjoyed by yourself, be it reading, scribbling horrible drawings or shooting practice. So, it came to be a bit of a surprise when you found yourself enjoying the company of the Supreme leader just as much as you enjoyed your own.
Work had been what you'd been living for before but training with Kylo was something entirely different. It fulfilled you in ways that work hadn't before and strangely enough, eating dinner with him every night was almost the same.
You even found yourself searching for him on the bridge or meetings just to invite him to eat lunch sometimes (only when sleep deprived, because you did not have the guts to ask him otherwise). He'd never denied your invitation.
Rosie had minded it, not at first because since the battle of Batuu your relationship had been slightly damaged. She couldn't fathom that you'd have easily sacrificed her to protect the First Order and you couldn't understand why she couldn't understand.
Only because you didn't want to sit alone at lunch had you even asked Kylo to eat with you and now...well, now everything was alright between you and Rosie but you no longer wanted to eat lunch with her. It wasn't her fault but...she didn't get that and so you two had, yet again, become a bit more distant. It bothered you and maybe the friendship weaking had affected you after all.
The relationship that Kylo, the Knights and you had was so much more. It was a bond that couldn't be broken because one got offended about not eating lunch or dinner with them. It was that unbreakable trust you'd always had for him that had only become more...whatever more than unbreakable was. You just knew that you felt at ease when around the Supreme leader. His force abilities calmed yours down and his personality you.
So, you felt your heart sink when he told you that he had to leave to sort out things on a planet.
"Doc?" he asked, concern in his voice and expression when you didn't immediately answer.
"Sorry, what?" you repeated, having fully heard and understood him but not processed it.
"We can't train tonight. The Nighthawk is waiting for me at 20:00 hours."
"Why?" you asked, then realized it sounded just like that planet's name 'Weih'. "I could come with you? I can't possibly leave the most important man of the First Order without his personal medic! What if you get injured!" you joked, hiding the frustration that you'd be left alone for the unforeseeable future only barely.
He smiled and you wished the reason would have been different. "I won't fight. The battle is not going as expected, they need my presence."
You didn't reply. He'd become a sort of rock to cling to. He brought a steady stream of good food and company into your life. He cared for you and...strangely enough you cared for him in more than a 'patient' way (you still weren't sure what to do about that information) and he cared for you too. He made you feel safe and appreciated and he made you believe you were worth something, unlike a certain family member of yours. There was a reason for you to be here, to be part of something greater. If you were just a weapon or a tool, it didn't matter. He needed you and you needed him.
"You don't want me to leave."
You crossed your arms and leaned back. "No, I don't want you to leave."
He left it at that, looked you up and down and finished his food. The silence had gone from a comfortable one to a tensed one. You wanted to go with him, but he clearly did not want you there and you weren't foolish enough to believe that asking him again would change his mind.
