Kylo's POV
A sound a few floors above made Kylo jerk his head to look at its source. Vornskr. The doctor. His doctor was standing at the railing, eyes widened in horror and clearly having seen what had just happened.
Rey was whispering something next to him, but Kylo's ears blocked it all out. A sudden feeling of dread overcame him and instinctively he reached out for the Doc, but there was nothing up at the balcony of her. Her face turned into shades of grey, then it became vague and blurry.
Rey had gotten up and so did Kylo, not breaking off eye-contact with the Doc. He could see her, but only slightly and he could no longer feel her. She might as well have been a hologram.
"Doc," he said, half-whispering and took a step forward as she left his field of view and disappeared somewhere into the building.
Rey said nothing and Kylo was glad for her silence. He didn't know what to do. Follow the Doc? Try to explain what had happened? But what had happened? He'd...he'd healed Rey. Somehow. He didn't know how. He'd just done it. He knew that it wasn't a dark side ability and, even if it was, he'd still healed Rey and with the Doc's expression, she'd likely seen him cry too.
She didn't understand, didn't know that Rey and him were connected. They were one in the force, a singular being. He'd...he'd only saved himself, hadn't he? She would understand if he told her, wouldn't she?
Something in the back of his head told him, that she very much would not understand.
"Rey!" two voices came from behind him accompanied by heavy footsteps and the growling of a wookie. The latter Kylo knew just too well.
He finally stopped looking up at the balcony where Vornskr had been on a moment ago and turned his head. Poe, Finn and Chewbacca were standing in the doorframe, hesitating to enter. Finn had his hand stretched out, motioning Rey to follow them.
"Rey, let's go!"
Chewbacca roared at Kylo, an angry greeting but questioning at the same time. Kylo turned back to look up at the balcony. Where was she? Should he go look for her?
Rey put her hand on Kylo's shoulder. "Ben, you can come with us. You're not like her. Not like them."
For once, she had a point. He wasn't like Vornskr. The Doc was an actual being of the dark side of the force. She embodied it in every way, something he'd always strived to do but instead, he was struggling between the dark and the light. A struggle he thought he'd long won but with healing Rey, it felt like he'd lost. No. He had lost.
"Ben," she repeated but Kylo did not listen.
Doc's POV
You were stupid. You were so fucking stupid. You should have known the first time he'd stopped you from killing Rey that you'd been nothing more than a replacement for the great Jedimaster and her fantastic force abilities. But no, turning her over to the dark side was a failed plan. She'd turned him to the light, further pulling him from your grasp.
You dropped down to the floor in an empty corridor and hit your head against the wall a few times in frustration as tears were starting to roll down your face.
Your fault for ever trusting anyone like that.
You should have known.
Your abilities while rare and 'special', were nothing against the true power that someone like Rey had. Nothing at all. Of course, he wanted to use her for his gain but did he really have to play with your emotions through all of this as well?
