Kylo's POV

The huts from the villagers looked even worse up close. They were primitive, half falling apart and the dome they used for protection against the acid rain had probably failed them a few times, as the decay of the area suggested. The rain would only get worse in the next hours, which is why Kylo had called all the hazard troopers in the area to help with the effort in securing the village.

If he hadn't, leaving again wouldn't be as easy and also more expensive for his ships.

They'd already rounded up all the villagers in the centre but Kylo only went to the Major, where two hazmat troopers were bringing a woman. The symbol of the Resistance was blatantly displayed on her jacket and getting into her head took him less than ten seconds.

"I know their location. Execute her and the rest," Kylo said.

"No," it suddenly came from the hazmat trooper standing to the side. Kylo hadn't even noticed him, but he did now and immediately threw him against the next ship. He didn't give the bundle of mud, blood and misery any chance to get up, levitating him in the air by his neck.

What had gotten into this weakling's head to speak out against him? Apparently, nothing. The man was harder to read than the Resistance woman he had just interrogated.

"Get up," Kylo commanded.

The man was confused, did as he said but the thoughts in his head replayed the deaths of hazmat troopers over and over again. He'd just lost them, maybe that's why he suddenly felt sentimental towards the villagers but when he stumbled ahead, he no longer hesitated. He lifted up the blaster and shot, Kylo did not even have to repeat his command.

The Supreme leader watched the entirety of the village getting executed by the hazmat troopers. Most hesitated, just for a few seconds then did as they were told like the soldier in front of him. Eventually the massacre came to an end with the man putting a final shot through a dying man's head.

"I didn't think you'd have it in you," Kylo had to admit.

The man only turned around and started heading to the shuttles. His thoughts were still as scrambled as earlier and both from the way he was carrying and from his force sense, Kylo could tell that the man was injured. He wasn't a bad soldier, just affected by his wounds and what had happened. Again, Kylo had difficulty deciphering most of it as it felt a bit like...radio static.

But the man had defied him, blatantly ignored him, the Supreme leader. He ignited his lightsabre, anger rising up.

The Major took a step into the man's direction to block him from leaving. "Where do you think you're going, soldier?"

"Home, Sirs."

"That is no way to address the Supreme Leader."

Kylo would have let the man go, maybe, but there was only person that he allowed to call him 'Sir'. He'd have let him go, if he wouldn't-

Kylo felt like someone had just doused him in ice-water. As if someone had managed to manifest fear and pain and injected it right into his veins. The hurricane of negative emotions gone as quick as it had appeared and a giant, gaping hole in the force was left. Absorbing it, corroding itself into the very fabric of existence the same way the acidic rain was eating up the ground. But it wasn't just a hole in the force, she'd limited his connection. She hadn't cut him off because she could not do it, on the contrary, she had spared him.

His force sense suddenly stunted and, realizing who he had in front of him, didn't even notice his lightsabre switching itself off. He'd found her. He'd found the Doc. She was alive.
