Throughout the years working for the Resistance and against the First Order, Vi had evaded capture many times. Today was different. She'd have done it again, slipped away and would have been gone from the planet before they'd even realized she'd been here but the First Order had learned from its past mistakes.

The organisation was a slow learner and she'd been able to use the same tactics over and over again without any interference or troubles. Even now, she'd been on Black Spire Outpost for weeks encountering mountain troopers on the daily without ever risking capture. They'd interrogated her once without realizing who she was and later passed her many times on the streets, seeing her as nothing more than another inhabitant.

She'd racked up quite the following and turned many people into Resistance sympathizers over those weeks. It was easy. The 709th went through the streets, broke into peoples' shops and homes and dragged everyone out on the street to execute them if they'd found sufficient proof of their rebellion. How were people not turned off by their actions?

The 709th was so brutal in their approach that they had even deterred some of the mountain troopers deployed. Vi had watched them, written down who was faltering and when the new troopers arrived found the perfect victim for her own subversion. She'd approached them, plain clothing, nothing of the Resistance visible and had simply talked to them. They trusted her now. They knew she was a sympathizer but hadn't said anything to the 709th. Only through them had she found out that the ships the 709th used were all equipped with data chips that had full troop movements saved on them. It'd be child's play to evade the First Order after obtaining such a chip and so that's what Vi had set her mind to.

She'd broken into an assault shuttle, only injured an officer and abused the kindness of the mountain troopers to get away with it. They supported her but they were still the First Order and she'd have shot them at a moment's notice like she'd shot every other one of them. At least, that's what she told herself but deep down Vi knew she had taken a liking to those squads of mountain troopers over the past weeks. She'd stopped seeing them as part of the mass of white armour. She'd even learned their ID numbers and could tell them apart even when they were in full armour.

When she'd broken into that shuttle and the mountain troopers had found her, they hadn't considered shooting her. They'd all lowered their weapons and she'd ran away. But they were still First Order and apparently, they'd lead Kylo Ren right to her.

It'd gotten cold when he'd approached. She'd been far away, thought that she could still jump over the barrier and disappear into the streets on Black Spire Outpost, but suddenly all her limbs had been frozen in place. Vi had never experienced the force before. The invisible restraints were one thing, restricting only movement but him probing her mind was violating on an entirely different level. To say that she simply despised him more after that was an understatement.

Vi had been taught how to combat such tricks. Only in theory, never in practice for Dark Side users were impossible to come by with the Resistance but it had worked and she'd shielded what was important from him. Then suddenly it'd become even colder and she'd felt her mental barriers weaken rapidly, the pain growing all the while. She knew that she couldn't keep the information on where Leia was hidden for long anymore.

Rey had saved her. She'd come out of nowhere, distracted him and drawn him away into a fight. Vi was left sitting on the floor, trying to gather herself for a moment when one of the Resistance sympathizers had dragged her off her feet and into the AAL. She quickly regained her composure and with the other Resistance fighters had taken over the AAL. One of them had whacked the doctor standing outside over the head and thrown her into the ship too.

Vi took over, piloting the ship and flying away to a more remote location.

"Anyone useful on board?" she asked Gerrad, a local she'd only recently convinced of joining the Resistance.
