Sometimes you really didn't know how you ended up in these situations. Rosie was crying, trembling and holding onto the still alive officer to her right. The look in her eyes was pleading, silently asking you to give up the access codes but that wasn't an option. You wouldn't betray Kylo and none of the lives in this ship were worth giving them up for.

Vi Moradi disappeared into the cockpit, called to by one of her Resistance comrades. The mountain troopers and the Resistance all remained still for a few more moments when the one called Gerrad suddenly punched you in the gut. You suppressed a scream, only holding onto the wall to not collapse when he hit you again, harder this time. Rosie screamed and you fell forward on one knee.

For a moment you were dizzy and only half-realized that Vi Moradi and two of her Resistance comrades left the AAL. She said something about not going too hard on you and just letting you back out in Black Spire Outpost later but from everyone else's reaction, they weren't going to do that.

When she was gone, you had another moment to breathe before they pulled you up again, throwing you against a wall and hitting you again. They left you sitting against the wall, accusing you and Kylo of all sorts of things that you didn't pay any mind to. As many mistakes the First Order had made today, the Resistance had finally made one too: they'd taken all the blasters from the mountain troopers earlier and had now left you with unarmed men.

The next time they threw you against a wall, part of the metal broke off and you held onto it, concealing it until the right moment when you stabbed the man previously known as Gerrad through the neck.

You stood behind him, he held onto the wound, trying to stop it from bleeding but it was futile. He dropped to the ground, making a very unpleasant rattling sound and you watched him for a moment then looked at the troopers, a bloody smile on your face.

You knew the weak points of their armour and were prepared to kill the rest in just the same way you'd disposed of this annoying Resistance member when the two mountain troopers in front of you were shot through the open ramp of the AAL. You turned around to see two men dressed in black approaching, one of them with a red glowing lightsabre in hand.

You dropped the metal shard and wanted to go over to Rosie to calm her down but she only backed up, tears still streaming down her face. Alright. She was in shock; she'd come to her senses again. The two officers had much the same look on her face, one of disgust and fear. You shrugged and wiped your blood-drenched hands on your medical tunic before you went outside to Kylo and Cardo.

"You got beaten up, Miss?" Cardo asked. "Good thing I killed those...no, you look like you had it under control." He looked at the dying Resistance fighter. He was still breathing, blood steadily pouring out on the floor.

You grabbed a blaster from Cardo's belt and shot the man a few times, then handed it back. "No need to prolong his misery. They wanted access codes for the Finalizer. There is Resistance on board pretending to be stormtroopers and they hacked the R5 unit piloting some troop transport."

Kylo's POV

How glad he was to see her alive. He'd had his fun fighting Rey but when the ship was suddenly gone and Cardo informed him that she was too, he'd...had he really been worried? No. That's not something that he did. It's not something he did usually. She was different. She was his student, his apprentice. He cared for her because of that, felt the need to protect her until she was ready to go out alone and fight for herself but right now? No, she was definitely not ready.

He clenched his fist harder around the hilt of his lightsabre when he saw the split open lip and blood on her chin. Then he saw all the blood on her shirt and all over her arms and his heart sank until he figured that it wasn't hers. One of the Resistance fighters was still struggling, choking on his own blood before she shot him with Cardo's blaster. Kylo could not care less for what she was saying now, he was just glad she was still standing. He put his hand on her back and guided her back inside, feeling her frail body beneath the thin fabric and cursing himself all the way for even taking her with him.
