Within the higher ranks of the First Order, it was common knowledge that the chief medical officer was also a Knight of Ren. But only since joining the latter, did people pay mind to you. The stares in the hallways were long, heads turned and you could sometimes see the occasional finger pointing in your direction.

You didn't mind. Merely found it curious that they cared now while they hadn't previously. You weren't the only one to notice this change though, as Hux noted when you were walking next to him.

"If you'd wear a normal officer's uniform and not your...medical thing, they wouldn't pay any mind to you."

"You overestimate how much I care, General."

He scoffed, left it at that and switched the topic: "How is the spy business going?"

"Since Kylo told us that we have missed at least one, not good. Ushar has found a few more who's backgrounds can be questioned but none match the profile of who we are looking for."

"It is someone high up, then," he concluded out of having basically zero information and you turned to look at him. You'd been so caught in the fight between Kylo and him for the longest time that you'd often overlooked his competence. He wasn't the youngest member of the Supreme Council for nothing.

"We'll find them," you said with finality, not wanting to continue this conversation because it frustrated you and you did not know enough anyway.

"How does Ren know about the spy?", Hux asked, either ignoring your tone of voice or not caring about it.

You said nothing more and for a few metres walking it was quiet between you two.

"Your...mother has become quite bothersome on Chirna," Hux started. "We've been discussing contracts with local hospitals to use them as sick bays for our stormtroopers. Chirna has a good position and if we'd be able to temporarily station some battalions there and care for the injured, it would help us greatly in the war effort."

"And let me guess: she interfered and because, somehow, that woman has a following amongst the doctors, now they are protesting and no longer want us there?"

"Precisely."

You scoffed. "If you know her location, tell me. I will get rid of her. Oh, Kylo!"

Some officers that'd been walking along the corridor turned their heads at you calling the Supreme Leader of all people by his first name. Then they saw who was talking to him, and the worry that soon someone would be thrown against a wall disappeared from their faces.

Kylo's POV

'She'd kill her mother like that?' Rey asked, voice fading the closer he got to the doctor, and, subconsciously, he slowed down to hear what else she had to say. 'Even you mourned your father. She does not care about anything. Not her family. How do you even know she wouldn't betray you or the First Order!'

'Shut up,' Kylo thought and fastened his steps until the connection with Rey was cut and it'd once again become quiet inside his mind. Oh, how he missed that.

Hux went ahead into his office, the door left open by the Doc standing in between the round doorway and waiting for Kylo to come. They had a meeting with Pryde about the situation on Chirna, but Kylo wasn't looking forward to it. He was sick of constant crisis meetings, decisions and one disaster after another. He hadn't even gotten to see her much for the past week, that's how busy he'd been. When he'd come back to sleep, she'd already been gone and even if they had a bit of time with each other, it was often interrupted.

"You look annoyed," the Doc said flat-out and Hux flinched just a little at how freely she spoke her mind.

"I am," Kylo admitted and the two of them entered Hux's office.
