The Supreme leader had become his most unpleasant self ever since the Doc had gone missing. Ap'lek had been the one to draw the short straw and tell him and Kylo had destroyed the entire bridge of the Steadfast as a result. They'd repaired it shortly after but his mood hadn't gotten any better.
Ap'lek knew that Kylo had blamed himself for a few weeks after the battle of Batuu and her getting injured. 24, hadn't seen it as an issue and she didn't make Kylo responsible, only he did. So, when the battle on Weih required his presence, he had decided against taking her along. He'd told Ap'lek in confidence that he feared for the Resistance to know about her and her abilities, but it had sounded more like he feared for them to know about her importance to him specifically.
Since then, Kylo had injured at least one officer a day and whenever someone dared to call him 'Sir', how he'd allowed them to call him previously, he was sent into a fit of rage.
Ap'lek and, out of necessity, a few officers had tried to locate MD-2442, but ever since arriving on Weih, her trail had been lost. Kylo had spent a few days on the planet, joining fights and, as Ap'lek assumed, had hoped to find her there, but he hadn't and instead remained in meetings and discussion with various other people that were interested in Weih.
They'd information that down in the south there'd be an important character and because Kylo had been on edge since the one-month-mark since the Doc's disappearance was approaching, Ap'lek had gently suggested for him to go there himself. Maybe a good fight would calm him down again.
