Evangeline threw the volcra away from them using her chaos magic, but another came in. Suddenly, a crow's head came swooped in and imbedded instead into a volcra's head.
A surge of light came through and the three turned to see the Hneral and Alina face to face. And although it pained her, Eva pushed him overboard with her powers, but accidentally threw Mal over too as he was getting up to push his over as well.
"Shit!"
"No, Mal!"
The two men fought on the sand, them both grunting and fists colliding with the other's body. Alina was looking over the edge of the ship at the men when she felt her heart start to stop beating slowly and painfully. The light surrounding them started to dim, Eva jumped down and held down the heartrender, freeing Alina.
Jesper jumped out from behind a pillar and shot at him. "Still couldn't shoot the pretty face. I've gotta stop doing that."
"Jesper!"
"Eva!"
The two hugged. Eva turned around and saw Alina.
"Alina!" Evangeline called out for the half Shu girl.
"Angy?" She took a second to really process the moment. "Angy!" The girl hugged, but the embrace didn't last long as they heard gunshots below.
Mal shot Aleksander.
"No!" Eva held onto Mal with her chaos magic and flung him away. She flew down using her powers to get to her husband. "Alek-"
He grabbed her by the throat. "Traitor!"
"Aleksander- please." She gasped for air. "Please love-"
He grasped her throat even tighter. "I loved you! The only person I trusted and loved, left me. Where are Billy and Tommy? What have you done with them!?" He shouted in her face. She was holding into his wrist and was trying to pull it away from her throat.
"If you won't help me, I'll raise them to listen. I'll raise them and teach them to follow their destiny."
That did it. "Don't. You. Touch. A HAIR. On them!" She thrusted our her hands and he flew backwards onto the sand. Mal shot at him again and so did Jesper.
A volcra swooped in and grabbed the man. Now back in the ship, everyone was gathered around Alina and Mal. Kaz was holding his cane for protection, Jesper held out his guns, Eva had her hands out with her red mist swirling around them and Inej was crouched down next to Alina and Mal.
The skiff started to move and out of the food they went.
