Luke

I woke up at 10:37 a.m.. I had fallen asleep last night, watching some stupid cooking show that was on the television. I had wanted to keep reading, but I didn't know if I should. It's not mine, anyway! I contemplated it until I finally reached for the book that was on my nightstand.

"Dear Journal,

He didn't let me out. Weird. My pencil is wearing away, and I already finished my pen last week. How am I going to write to you? I'm going to sharpen my pencil once I get out. Sara's out though. I can tell because I can smell good food from downstairs.

I feel sorry for Sara, because Papa makes her eat his leftovers. At least she gets food. I'm not allowed to eat! But Sara sneaks me some food. Thank God for her.

I think I smell lunch.

Might be good.

I felt bad for Samuel. I would have saved both of them if I had super powers. I felt tempted to read on, but I needed food. I put the book under my mattress, just to keep it safe. I ran down the stairs and into the kitchen, where Ashton had made breakfast.

"Morning, Luke. Go wake up the others for me?" He asked me.

"Sure. Smells good." I ran back upstairs and into Michael's bedroom.

"Hey, Mikey. Wake up." I nudged him.

His eyes flew open, and he sat up.

"Morning." He yawned.

"Breakfast's almost ready." I said

He nodded and I left the room to go wake up Calum.

Sara

"Good morning." The nurse said when I woke up, who seemed to be rather bored.

I grunted and sat up. I didn't feel so good.

"You feeling okay?" She walked up to me, pouring me a glass of water.

"Not really." I said.

"You took some run last night." She said.

"Yeah." I drank the water, a refreshing feeling going down my throat.

"Why?" She asked.

"I had to find it."
