I went to the half time snack, Mr Kenwright was already there so I went to that table. Niall arrived a minute later and stayed with us."Well, what do we think?" Mr Kenwright laughed ironically.
"An absolute disaster." Niall answered and sighed.
I nodded.
"Something has to be done now guys." Mr Kenwright told us.
"Definitely, we are working on it. Aren't we?" I smiled and looked at Niall.
"We are. It will get better." Niall supported my answer.
"Good to know. Sign someone before the next match if possible. Greenwood, you will let me know what happens with Tomlinson." Mr Kenwright said.
"I will. I think I know how to get them to accept." I said.
"Good job. Don't let us down. Horan, same to you." Mr Kenwright smiled.
"We won't." Niall and I assured him.
Mr Kenwright waved at someone, I suppose they knew each other.
"Sorry, but he is a good friend of mine. I have to go talk to him. See ya in the second half my guys." Mr Kenwright explained, smiled and left the table.
So it was just Niall and I now.
"Well, Greenwood, what's your plan?" Niall asked.
"I think we should go to Doncaster. At least me and someone else if you don't want to." I explained.
"You have to be joking." He said.
"Sadly for you, I'm not. But it's a part of the plan. They are not going to accept an offer through the phone." I explained.
"Usually that is what is done in the premier league, Greenwood. We don't travel to get a player. The player travels to sign the contract." He explained.
"Yeah, but Doncaster is not in the premier league Horan. They are not as used to that as you are, believe me. I was in Blackpool last year, I know how lower leagues work." I assured him.
"Is it really necessary to travel?" He asked.
"When is Doncaster's next match?" I asked, completely ignoring his question.
"Let me check." He checked his phone. "In three days." He informed.
"Good. At Doncaster?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"Let's go there." I suggested.
"You are going to drive me crazy." He sighed.
"I'll take that as a yes. We will see him play and I will talk to their directors." I smiled.
"Whatever. Doing this for you Greenwood, it better work." He told me.
"Trust the Greenwood way Horan." I winked.
We were told to go back to our seats right after. Niall and I arrived back there together for the first time. Without saying a single word. It was tense, but I am happy he accepted going to Doncaster. I honestly can't believe he did.
We sat at our seats and the second half started a minute later.
It is impressive to me how we can't even maintain the ball in our possession for a minute straight.
"We also need a midfielder." Niall pointed out. "We are running out of time." He looked at me.
"Don't tell me like it's my fault or something. I know what our situation is already." I sighed.
