Connor rather liked having Will at his mercy, it was a welcome change from the norm. He'd grown rather stiff and immobile due to the pain, which meant he wasn't going to run off and do something stupid again. He'd already visited Diane, though afterwards he'd admitted perhaps he should have waited. Seeing Diane unconscious had really torn him up.
But he seemed much better after the owl from Anne that Diane had woken up, and shortly after an owl from Diane herself telling him to stay home and rest. He would have to make her a damn cake for that, because it had actually convinced Will to stay put for once.
He walked into the bedroom where William was bandaged and sitting in bed reading, looking up as Connor walked in with lunch. He smiled and put the book down, and Connor felt his belly fill with butterflies at one of Will's rare smiles. Or... at least they used to be rare. They'd been growing more common lately.
"Lunch time?" He said softly, patting the bed next to him in invitation for Connor to join him while eating.
"My specialty, a ham melt with extra cheese." Connor chuckled, bringing him the sandwich on a plate while sitting next to him with his own.
William chuckled as he bit into the sandwich, humming softly at how good it was. "I do love these." He said happily.
"That's why it's my specialty." Connor smiled.
William glanced over to him and gave a little smile, chuckling gently. He went silent for a moment, lowering his sandwich with a thoughtful expression.
"Uh oh. Someone's been thinking. That's a dangerous pastime." Connor said, seeing the way William's expression changed.
"I've been thinking about what you said a few days ago." William said softly.
Connor felt his heart hammer in his chest, trying not to look as anxious as he suddenly felt. "Oh?" He said.
"I... haven't been very fair to you." William sighed. "I know it's been hurting you, to have me push you away even when I say I love you."
Connor nearly choked on his sandwich, blushing brightly at that, because he said it so casually now. He stared at him with wide eyes, not daring to interrupt him.
"I want to make this work, but... I'm rubbish with emotions, and expressing myself." William sighed. "I'm not really sure how to fix that, either." He looked up to Connor anxiously.
Connor set his sandwich down and moved into William's lap, straddling his legs and being careful not to press against his healing burns. William looked up at him with a bright flush at the sudden brazen move, his breath shuddering at the feel of him on top of him. His hands went to Connor's hips automatically, holding him in place to tell him without words how much he liked it.
"What you did just now was a big step, Will." Connor said softly, reaching up to hold William's face tenderly. "Just keep doing that." His smile turned warmer. "And this." He leaned forward to kiss him gently.
Will let out a hungry sound and pulled him closer, diving into the kiss, but wincing when his burns brushed against his shoulder from the movement.
"Ah, sorry-" Connor said, moving away quickly with a little sigh.
"When I'm healed... we're going to work at this." William said firmly, as if it couldn't be questioned.
"This?" Connor asked curiously what part he meant.
William tangled a hand in his pale blond hair, pulling him down so their mouths were inches apart again. "This." He growled softly.
Connor let out a shuddering breath, shivering gently from the way he handled him a bit rough. He should have known William would be as merciless in bed as he was in battle. "We'll work at this, too." Connor said, setting a hand gently over his heart on his chest, the touch featherlight because of the burns.
