Chapter 37 - Graduation Pt. 2

A/n: Hiii, heh, sry I've been ded. I seem to be saying that a lot, but this time I do have a good reason. Summer holiday recently started, so I don't really have a lot of time to write (hence why this chapter is rlly short, but it is the filler chapter anyways). I try to update when I can, but there really wouldn't b much until the school year starts again. Alsoo, the college I mention in this chapter isn't real, so yea, (try to) ENJOYYY!!!

Chapter 37

June 11, Friday

No one's POV

Leonard and Arthur stayed over at the Chase boys' house, rewatching 'The Big Bang Theory' together.

"Can't we go do something fun? C'mon Leonard, we just graduated, I wanna go... do something." Arthur explained, letting out an exasperated sigh. "This is fun. The only thing more fun than watching 'The Big Bang Theory' is doing science experiments. Would you like to do that?" Leonard responded, not taking his eyes off of the TV.

"Leonarddd," Arthur then urged, "You're going to be off to some fancy university in Lansing in a few months, don't you want to hang out with your boyfriend?"

Leonard finally paused his show, turning around ever so slightly to look at the redhead boy. "First of all, it is 'Michigan College of Science and Technologies', not university--" Leonard started explaining.

"What's the difference?" Arthur cut him off, an annoyed tone laced in his voice. " Well 'university' has larger institutions for graduated and undergraduate and graduate programs, whilst 'college'--" Leonard stated, Arthur rolling his eyes and cutting the boy off again with a groan. "I've been friends with you for so long and still can't learn not to ask you stupid questions." He then whispered to himself.

"Anyways, I am sure we will be able to figure out a schedule to meet up when the both of us don't have classes. Oh, I'm excited to organise this." The Lee boy finished saying, though a frown started growing on Arthur's face.

And even if Leonard isn't the best at reading emotions, he somehow managed to understand that Arthur was upset.

I guess that really shows how much Leonard loved the redhead; but he didn't know that yet.

"Are you okay? Is something bothering you?" The Lee boy questioned, setting a hand on his boyfriends' shoulder in a comforting manner (not something he would usually do, but he did see it in a lot of books so he decided to try it out).

"I-- I didn't get into college." Arthur replied, fidgeting with his fingers as he looked down to avoid eye contact. "How so?" Leonard then asked, sounding more insensitive then he meant to.

"It doesn't take a complete smartass to figure out how I didn't get into college Leonard," The redhead stated, sounding a bit more angry, "I'm too dumb. I've always been dumb. You should know."

"Well-- I wouldn't say you're.. dumb. If we just compare you to, let's say, Amb*r H**rd, you wouldn't seem as much as an idiot anymore." Leonard spoke, bringing a quiet laugh out of Arthur.

"I-- I know we planned to both go to college in the same city, and I'm sorry that we can't do that anymore." The Chase boy then apologised, and once again Leonard set the 'comforting' hand on his shoulder.

"There is no need to apologise, Arthur. I suppose it would be fine if I didn't go to college for one year, we could figure something out then." The dark haired boy stated, and Arthur couldn't help but widen his eyes.

Leonard was willing to not go to school-- not just any school, but one of the best schools in the world-- for him. That was completely unbelievable to Arthur. Leonard chose him over studying, how was that even possible?

"No, no, you can't do that." Arthur said, still somewhat stunned from the occurrences just seconds before. "How come?" Leonard then asked. "You've been dreaming of going to this school since you were small, well, smaller than now." Arthur said, Leonard half glaring at him. Leonard isn't good at understanding jokes, but he's heard enough height jokes to understand those.

"Either way, I can't have you giving up your dreams to be with me. You have to go, become whatever fucking thing you want to become." Arthur finished saying.

"Well.. this isn't over, right?" Leonard then quizzed, a small glint of sadness in his eyes. After locating a problem, Leonard would always have bunches of solutions run through his mind, it was the scientist in him trying to fix things. But with this problem, he couldn't seem to find solutions, because the little boy in him did have feelings, and it was taking over him at that moment.

Arthur spread a hopeful smile on his face, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend, whispering a small but determined, "Never."
