Chapter 3
July 14, Tuesday
Kathrin's POV
After seeing Eleanor hurriedly looking out of the window, I got curious and went over to her. And outside stood her mother, a look of fury masked on her face. What was her name again? Elizabeth? Or Isabel? I don't fucking know.
"Shut, what're you gonna do?" I asked, pulling her away from the window, her eyebrows furrowed in worry. "Well-- I don't know-- I have to go down I guess." Eleanor stated, running a hand through her blonde hair.
"But do you really have to?" I asked, soothingly rubbing her shoulders. "Well-- yea, she's a detective. She'll kick down the door if she has to." Eleanor hastily blurted out.
I could hear her breathing increase, her eyes wide with anxiousness. And even if I'm not much of a hugger, I tightly wrapped my arms around her, as she did with my waist.
"It'll be okay, Elle. We'll figure it out." I cooed, moving my hand up and down her back as I could feel her nod against my chest. "Will you come down with me?" She requested, looking up to stare into my eyes.
"Wouldn't I just make it worse?" I asked, chuckling slightly. "Yea, probably. But... she already figured it out, so I'm done hiding this-- what we are." Eleanor stated, smiling up at me. "Ok." I muttered.

No one's POV
"Eleanor Elizabell Barbaeu," Elizabell sternly yelled out, her eyes red with anger. "I told you, I don't want you with someone like... her." She spat out, disgust laced in her voice. "And it's so much worse that you lied to me about this."
There was anger on Eleanor's face as well-- and for the first time ever, she talked back to her mom. "Well if you just stayed out of my relationship, I wouldn't have kept it a secret." She hissed, glaring up at her mother, who then had a shocked look painted on her face.
"Excuse me?" The woman quizzed, her voice raising. "You do not talk back to me like that." She lectured.
"No-- I'm done being quiet. I'm done.. suppressing my feelings just to please you. Finally, I found someone who cares about me just as much as I care about them, and you still don't approve of it?" Eleanor ranted.
"I'm only doing it for you to be safe. You don't know what she is like-- she uses drugs, she drinks, she is completely careless about her life-- I could get her arrested right now! And I don't want her to drag you down with her-- for you to become like her." Elizabell declared.
"But Kathrin isn't like that!" The blonde girl screamed out. "She is sweet, and she is kind. And she does nothing but protect me. She has never put me into harm's way; and she was always there for me."
Eleanor reached out to hold Kathrin's gloved hand, while she just awkwardly stood there.
"Well it wouldn't matter anymore." The woman muttered, shaking her head disappointedly. "What do you mean?" Eleanor questioned, gripping tighter onto Kathrin's hand.
"I'm sending you to boarding school. The same one your sister goes to. I thought I didn't have to. I thought you were smart enough-- responsible enough-- to not be caught up with things like this. I don't know what I did wrong for both you and your sister to turn out like this, but the boarding school should set you straight."
Tears started welling up in Eleanors' eyes.
"Say your goodbyes. And then we're leaving." Elizabell ordered, getting into her car.
The blonde girl turned over to Kathrin, now holding both of the brunettes' hands. "At least we tried." She cried out, trying to smile even with the tears that rolled down her cheeks.
Kathrin chuckled, moving her hands up to set them on the blonde girls' shoulders, using her thumbs to wipe away the tears that stained Eleanors' face. "Yea, we did." Kathrin muttered back.
"I-- maybe we can still find a way. Maybe I could somehow sneak out of the school-- and we could meet up-- run away together; just the two of us." Eleanor stammered, holding onto Kathrin's clothed wrists.
"No, no, you're mothers right." Kathrin sighed out, looking down at her feet. She has tried to ignore this the whole time they've been together. She has been trying to suppress the doubting voice that is just screaming in her head, telling her that she is not good enough for Eleanor, and might never be.
Eleanor's mom was already good enough to let her off the hook with the whole drugs thing, since she didn't actually do drugs, she just thought she did. Kathrin thought it would be best if Eleanor just found someone... better than her.
"I'm not right for you. I've hurt everyone I care about in some way-- even if I didn't mean it. And I don't want to do that to you too." The brunette girl stated, fluttering her eyes close because she couldn't stand seeing Eleanor so broken.
More tears escaped the blonde girls' eyes, dripping off of her chin and onto the pavement. Eleanor wanted to argue, to tell Kathrin that nothing will ever make her lose feelings for the brunette girl, even if Kathrin might accidentally hurt her.
But Eleanor didn't. Because what was the point of holding onto this if there was always going to be something in the way? So Eleanor just nodded, a sad smile on her face, as she murmured the three words she has wanted to say for so long.
"I love you."
Kathrin gulped. She wanted to say it back, she desperately did, but when she opened her mouth-- nothing came out. She just couldn't seem to get it off her tongue.
To her it seemed that if she really told Eleanor that she loved her back, it would mean she's admitting to herself that she has fell for something that she could never have. She didn't want to be so foolish, and she didn't want to put herself in a position where she is alone again.
"You don't have to say it, you really don't-- but I just need you to know that I love you... with my whole heart." Kathrin bit onto her quivering lip. She doesn't cry, and she wasn't planning on it. But Eleanor seemed to just make her feel some type of way.
It took everything in her to not break down in tears right there and then, but she just stood there with a straight face as she looked down at the love of her life who finally let go of her clothed wrists. "Goodbye." The blonde girl said for one last time before leaving Kathrin standing on the grass all alone; the car driving away into the distance as Kathrin finally realised she might not see her ever again.
