The Engagement Party

*Alicias POV*

Today was the day of Ominises and Poppys engagement.
Part of me wished something would happen and they would have to call off the engagement.
Stretching I slowly got out of bed. I put my robe on and walked down to the kitchen.
It was still rather early not even the house elves were awake.
I made myself a cup of coffee and sat in one of the chairs by the window.
Frost was softly etched onto the windows. It was a cold morning
It matched how I felt inside.
We had really just began discovering where our feelings could lead. Only to shove them down deep inside my heart.
So today I was numb I had to be in order to keep my head.
After today it was back to Hogwarts to figure out who The Pure was.
It was time for me to put more effort into healing the relationship between Sebastian and I.
I had no business pondering the what ifs about Ominis
I already felt guilty for sleeping with Ominis when he is courting my best friend. It would eat me alive to sleep with him when she is his wife.
I took another sip out of my mug, the hot liquid sending a flash of warmth down into my body.
"Couldn't sleep well either?
A deep voice that sent chills down my body said.
Ominis oh why is he up right now.
"I slept perfectly fine I just wake early, I like the quiet when I wake up."
"Am I disturbing you than?" He said in a teasing voice.
I can leave."
"No of course not Ominis it is your own house you can remain where you want. As long as you grab yourself a cup of coffee."
"He grabbed a mug and sat down in the chair next the the one I was in.
He peared out the window looking at the snowflakes that were falling down. "I can see why you love the winter so much. I have always just considered it cold and wet and a bit bothersome.
Now I find myself lost in staring how the sun reflects off the snow. The intricate patterns of the frost across windows.
The way air becomes visable with an exhale.
He looks me in my eyes and smiles warmly.
But nothing compares to how beautiful you are."
I could feel myself blush at his bold words.
"Ominis today is your engagement party, I don't think Poppy would take kindly to you complimenting another woman expecially when you two are supposed to announce your engagement to society." I said teasingly.
"Maybe but she also understands that my heart will never be hers.
I made it well known to her that it lies elsewhere.
He grabs a hold of my hand.
Poppy knows that she wrongfully trapped me into this marriage, so it will only be a marriage in paper.
And that will not keep me from pursuing you Alicia.
You are the only woman I have ever loved."
"If she knows what she did was wrong why has she not released you from these shackles?"
"Poppy is not the simple Kind Poppy that she protrays. She knows our marriage is highly advantageous for her family. She wants to make sure her Grandma is secure and will do anything to see to that.
And if I were to end it my family would take great measure to punish me throughly. I can only offer you my heart, and beg you to continue to be at my side."
"Ominis I will not consent to be your mistress, I deserve more than that. I deserve to have all of you or none at all.
I finished my coffee I shall return to my room to get ready for your engagement party."
Tears formed in the corner of my eyes as I hurried towards my room.
I went into the shower and let the scalding hot water pelt my body.
My blood was boiling and my emotions were everywhere.
I was upset that he was engaged, angry that Poppy had forced his hand. And dissapointment that he even thought for a second to ask me to be his mistress. I almost wanted to leave and go back to Hogwarts early.
I thought I could stay numb to make it through and already in my first moments of the day I was already being laid open with emotion.
I could feel my ancient magic start to build up, I calmed my emotions and the ancient magic retreated.
As much as I didn't want this engagement to happen, I didn't want to ruin it. I climbed out of the shower and got dressed into a simple grey dress.
I put my hair into a bun leaving two strands or hair to braid and wrapped them around the bun and pinned it with the hair clip Ominis had given me last year for christmas.
It was expected of me to help Poppy ready for her party.
I walked out of my bedroom and made stop to the kitchen asking for some poppyseed muffins and coffee.
I walked with the tray to her room and knocked before entering.
"Alicia you didn't have too oh this is too much but thank you. She motions for me to sit on the chair closest to the bed.
I can't believe I am announcing my engagement to Ominis to society today, I am so beyond nervous. I never expected for this to happen."
I had to hold my tongue after what Ominis told me it was hard to slash at her with words.
"That is life I guess it will always leave you guessing.
His love for you must be strong if he is willing to get the courting part over. You two shall have a very happy marriage."
Poppys face faltered a little before smiling again. "Yes it must be,I had only hoped he returned my feelings in ferver and it as if my dreams came true."
As much as I tried not to let what Ominis said to me effect my views on Poppy,.I couldn't help but doubt who she was.
I never thought she was a liar, but everything coming out of her mouth was a lie.
The guilt that had filled me for lusting after her partner dissipated.
"Who knew Ominis could have such deep feelings, he told me that the woman he loves makes him burn with desire a flame that would never be put out. I can imagine he can barely keep his hands off you.
I went over and grabbed her dress wanting to burn it I placed it on the bed Lets get you ready to hop into the shower and I will help you get the dress on and do your hair and make up."
I stared at the dress while she showered.  Thinking of any Jinx that would to unnoticed.
A few came to mind but I talked myself out of it.
Poppy got out of the shower wnf I helped her finish geting ready. I head toward my room to ready myself.
