Vexel POV

"To understand my life now, you must understand how this came to be." I state, sitting across from young looking blond woman. She was kind, unlike many of the battle hardened people of Sanctuary. She had been here for a while, I could see the scars. "Rathma was my mentor. He taught me what I knew and that's why I'm here. I am not like you. Rathma took me in as his student and I learned what I knew from him. I learned not to be pulled into the Eternal Conflict. It only leads to death. There is a reason it's called that. This war will never end. There is no point in dying to it."

"I never knew Rathma took anyone in. He always seemed to keep to himself, he never wanted any problems." I nod.

"Indeed. However, he wasn't unfriendly to those who entered his sanctum. He taught me as if I were his son."

"You seemed to have a good time with him. Did you get those scars while with him?" She gestures to my exposed arm. I pull the cloth from my coat over it, hiding the hideous scar tissue.

"I did not get these scars from him. The story of that is for another time. I don't quite trust you yet." I narrow my eyes. I was skeptical of this place, I knew anyone could be an enemy.

"I have to ask, why are you here?" She crosses her arms and stares at me from across the table. It seemed to be her way of intimidating me.

"Rathma was murdered, as I'm sure you know." She nods grimly. She seemed to know how.

"Yeah, Inarius. I know he's an Angel and all, but he killed his own son."

"He killed my mentor, however I believe he will get what is coming to him. I am here to discover the truth. Rathma meant more to me then anyone here. Not you, not Inarius and definitely not Lilith." I stand from the table. "Rathma didn't deserve what happened to him."

"It's not a good idea to look for revenge." She stands up as well. "My husband was quite like you, out for the truth, out for revenge. It often didn't end well for him. You shouldn't fall into the same traps. My name is Ezara, by the way." She hesitated for a moment before saying her name.

"You are lying about your name, aren't you? That pause of hesitation, the slight tremor in your voice." I turn away from her. "I'm not ignorant to liars."

She sighs. "Ezara is my name." She states, this time the hesitation was gone. "However, I didn't start using it until I came here. My name bares too many memories of my past. A past I wish to forget."

"Don't we all wish to forget the past we see as torture?" I turn back to Ezara. I did see the tortured look in her eyes. I could feel the dark energy radiating off her. "I only came here to learn what you know of Rathma's death and the demon known as Lilith."

"Lilith needs to be stopped. She has a key to hell. If she uses it, Sanctuary will fall to disarray." I close my eyes for a moment.

"The status of Sanctuary is none of my concern. Ever since I got here, everyone has thought I side with Lilith. They've attacked me and blamed me for the deaths of those I killed to keep myself alive. I know I'm being watched everywhere I go in this town." I walk towards the door. "I know I am not welcome."

"Maybe they think you side with Lilith because of that. You're mysterious, deadly and over all not a nice person. Maybe you should try showing some compassion. These people are scared. They're scared of Lilith, scared of what her followers and her can do. You haven't even told me your name."

"Vexel. You wanted to know more about me, I told you. I think it's time I finish my journey on my own." I grab the door handle but I feel Ezara's hand on my shoulder.
