Ezara POV

I saw him approaching camp and I could see a different look in his eye. He had learned something while he was gone. I could also see a nervous look there. "Ezara." He says, walking up to me. "How was the ride?"

"It was good." I respond. "We weren't attacked on the way back, so that's good. Mazavir was also practicing a little bit and he's made a full recovery. The blood he drank from you made him oddly powerful."

"I thought it might." Vexel responds. "It was necessary for him to recover but it's to much for him to constantly have. He'll need to feed off someone else until we find a cure."

"Vayle offered to let him drink her blood." I state. The second we had mentioned it to her, she instantly agreed to let him drink her blood. It was strange the way she jumped at the idea. "I think she has some sort of weird obsession with him."

Vexel just shrugs. "As long as his vampirism isn't an issue. We also have to keep a close eye on him so he doesn't turn into a thrall. It may be fun for him now, but it won't be when he's our enemy. Speaking of that, there's something you need to know about them." I pause.

"What is it?" By the look on his face, it wasn't good news.

"I know who the leader of the vampires is." He says, taking a deep breath. "It claims to be your sister, Rycaria."

I freeze, my breath getting caught in my throat. "Rycaria?" I ask, Vexel nods. "She's alive?"

"She looked just like you, blonde hair and blue eyes. I wasn't sure she was telling the truth but the longer I looked at her the more and more I realized she looked just like you." He sits down on a rock just outside the home. I sit beside him.

"That's not good news at all. She's a powerful sorceress and if she's a vampire now too... there's no telling how strong she is now." Vexel nods slowly.

"She might be strong, but you forget I'm a demon necromancer." A slight smile crosses his face. "I've mastered life and death and I can also command an army of demons." I pause. He never mentioned using his demonic powers in a fight.

"Demons?" I ask. "You always try to avoid using your demonic powers. What changed?"

He sighs and looks at the ground. "I've learned a few things. Before I could consult with Rathma, my sister found me. She took me back to my mother who then told me that Rathma was my father. Then I met with Rathma and he told me that I can master my demonic abilities." He looks me in the eye. "I'm the one who stops the prophecy. I'm the hero it mentions."

"That makes sense, actually." I state, thinking over the lines of the prophecy. "It did mention something about a demon and a necromancer."

"A demons heart, a necromancer's throne." Vexel repeats the lines. I nod. "It's referring to me."

"Couldn't it be any demon? A good share of them know necromancy." I respond.

"No, I know it's me. Rathma confirmed it. Plus, a necromancer's throne speaks of Necropolis. I once ruled as Deathspeaker and Rathma wants me to rule once this is all over." I could see he was troubled by it. "I think I need to master Vyriviz's abilities before I'm ready to stop the prophecy. I think I need to be able to use its power without having it control me. I need to be able to function as the prime evil and the human simultaneously. I've been mostly using necromancy, I think it's time I start to use my demonic powers."

"Maybe your training with Mazavir can work both ways. It'll also help him master his fears of Vyriviz." I give him a slight smile.

"I will ask him. I won't force him to fight me as a demon if he's uncomfortable with it." He pauses for a moment. "If he says no, will you train with me?"
