Ezara POV
I groan and open my eyes. I'm met with two bright brown eyes staring at me. I jump up with a start. Whoever it was, dashed off before I could make sense of anything.
I stand up, determined to pursue them. Adrenaline rushes through my blood as I chase the mysterious person through the halls of Necropolis. I was still getting used to the place, but the person who woke me up wasn't too fast.
From behind, I could see someone wearing mostly green. They had short brown hair and they were shorter then me.
I catch up to them. "Hey! Wait!" I breath, grabbing onto them. They pause and I trip over their feet. We both fall to the ground in a heap.
"I'm sorry." He says, standing up. I stand up as well.
"What was that all about?" I ask, crossing my arms. "We're you watching me sleep?"
His eyes widen. "No, I wasn't." He says fast. "I was trying to see if you were awake."
"Then why did you run when I woke up?" He looks down at the ground, an ashamed look crossing his face.
"I... I wanted to see if you were... like him." He says quietly.
"Like who?" I ask.
"The prime evil." He responds.
"Vexel?" He looked young, maybe just a teenager. His short brown hair framed his face and his bright brown eyes searched me. He gives a slight nod. "I'm not a demon." I respond.
"Is he really as powerful as the say?" He asks.
"What do they say?" I give a slight chuckle.
"I heard he destroyed an entire fortress once. He might also be the reason Lilith and her cult disappeared." He seemed fascinated with the subject. "That's more then anyone here has done."
I give him a sweet smile. "He did do those things. I was with him when he destroyed the fortress. He was outnumbered. Probably thirty to one." His jaw drops in awe. "He raised an army of skeletons to fight for him. He tore his way through the fortress to get to their leader, one of Lilith's devoted followers. After he caught the man, I got to question him about Lilith."
"You're his apprentice, right?" He asks.
I pause for a moment. "Yes, my name is Ezara. I haven't been his apprentice for long. I with him for a while until I decided to learn from him. I knew a little bit of magic myself, but nothing close to what he can do."
"I'm Lodhir." He responds. Then he frowns. "Morkil is my mentor. He's always too busy running Necropolis to actually teach me anything. I was hoping I could learn from you. Since Vexel is a legend of a necromancer, I was hoping you could teach me some of what he taught you."
"That's not a good idea." I respond. "I don't actually know much necromancy. He and I were busy fighting Lilith and now the vampire attacks have our attention."
Lodhir frowns and turns away. "I was hoping you could help me but I can just pester Morkil to teach me something new."
I put a hand on his shoulder. "Wait, Lodhir." I say softly. "We can find Vexel and see if he'll teach you something."
Lodhir turns towards me with a smile on his face. "Really?" I smile as his childish smile and give him a nod.
"C'mon." I say, turning and walking through the halls of Necropilis. I find my way to the room Morkil had offered for Vexel to stay him. I poke my head inside. Vexel was inside, but he wasn't sleeping. I wasn't sure he actually slept.
