Ezara POV
"Are you alright, Mazavir?" Vexel asks before I had the chance to speak. Mazavir had opened his eyes and was looking at all of us.
"Yeah, I feel fine." Mazavir states, taking the bandage off that was around his bite wound. There was no evidence of the wound existing, not even any scars. He seemed shocked by that. "In fact, I feel hungry."
I look at Vexel. He frowns. "You're hungry because you're now a vampire." He says. There was a bowl with cold food in it beside the bed Mazavir was in. Vexel picks up the bowl. He dumps the food out.
I watch in horror as Vexel creates a dagger of bone and lacerates his arm with it. He holds the wound over the bowl. I watch as each drop of blood lands into the bowl with a splash.
Vexel hands the now blood filled bowl to Mazavir who stares at it awkwardly. Vexel holds his other hand over the laceration on his arm and the wound mends itself.
"This won't turn me into a demon, will it?" Mazavir asks. Vexel shakes his head. "This is gross." Mazavir says, proceeding to drink Vexel's blood from the bowl. I almost retch at the sight of it.
He hesitantly takes the first sip, but as soon as his lips touch the blood, be begins gulping it down like he hadn't drank anything in days. His eyes glow red in a hungry way and it almost scares me.
Once he finishes, he sets the bowl down. He looks at Vexel, his eyes still glowing in that hungry way. He reaches out, but Vexel was faster. He encases Mazavir in a bone prison.
Vexel frowns. "Sorry, Mazavir, but it was necessary."
"Did you know this would happen?" I ask. It seemed Vexel had dealt with vampires before.
Vexel gives a slight nod. "Mazavir won't become a vampire thrall as long as he keeps himself in check. He can drink small amounts of blood to keep himself sustained without turning."
After a few moments, the blood in Mazavir's eyes receded and he seems to turn normal again. He wiggles in Vexel's bone prison. Vexel releases him.
Mazavir sticks his tongue out for a moment, a disgusted look on his face. "Why do I like the taste of blood?" I almost laugh at him. "Especially Vexel's."
"As I said," Vexel states, no emotion in his voice. "It's because you're a vampire. You will stay as you are now with some benefits of being a vampire as long as you don't overfeed and give into the vampiric temptation."
"What if I can't control it?" Mazavir asks, his face now serious.
"You'll become a vampire thrall and we'll likely have to kill you." Mazavir just nods grimly. I glance at Arlex sitting in the corner.
"If it makes you feel better, she almost killed me too." I state, shooting Vexel a sharp look. He looks over at Arlex.
"Look, I already apologized for that." Arlex says with a shrug. "I drank little too much from you and I lost control." She acts as if it was an accident. "I didn't know who you were until after."
"You mean you didn't know who he was until after?" I say, nodding towards Vexel.
"Yeah, maybe." Arlex responds. "I was hungry, okay?"
"If you're going to stay with us, you won't be biting innocent people." Vexel says, crossing his arms. "I won't hesitate to kill you. Either way, it's up to them if you stay. I told you that."
Arlex just nods. "I'll respect what you two decide."
I frown. "We should talk alone." I say to Vexel. "Somewhere private."
