Chapter 40: Heartslabyul Epilogue

Dawn's POV

It has been several days since the Revenge Unbirthday Party; I never would have expected Riddle and the others would celebrate my belated birthday on that day in honour of me helping Riddle and everyone in their dorm. I was heading to Heartslabyul today because I promised to discuss my powers as a KeyKeeper with Riddle, Trey, and Cater.

As I entered the mirror, I was greeted by Ace, Deuce, Cater, and Trey who were happy to see me along with Perry and Grim. "Hi Dawn, Grim, Perry. It's good to see you guys again.", Deuce said.

"Hi, guys. How has everything been going in Heartslabyul?", I asked them.

"Well, Riddle's still pretty strict when it comes to following the rules, but things have been much better ever since we saved him.", Ace said. Feeling pleased, I nodded and said, "That's good to hear."

It was then that the guys noticed something about me was different. "Hey Dawn, how come you're wearing the dorm uniform that Cater gave you the first time?", Trey asked me. I looked down and noticed this as well; before entering through the mirror, I was wearing my school uniform, but now I am wearing the Heartslabyul dorm uniform like I did the first time. I was surprised and said, "Huh? But I was wearing my school uniform just now before entering."

The boys looked at Cater to see if he knew anything about this, but he said, "Don't look at me! I'm just as confused about this as you guys are!"

"Maybe after Cater's and Riddle's magic changed my school uniform, a bit of magic must have lingered on it and caused it to change into your dorm's uniform when I entered your dorm.", I summarized.

"Hmmm, I guess when you put it that way, it does sound like a good theory", said Ace, agreeing.

"Anyway, let's all head to the Tea Garden, Riddle is waiting for us there and has prepared refreshments for us.", Trey said. Grim jumped for joy after hearing there would be food for him. "Nyaha! Let's go eat some delicious pastries!", he shouted.

"Grim. We're not here to just eat snacks; we're here to talk to the others about my powers as a KeyKeeper!", I said with firmness.

"Hmph. Killjoy.", Grim said with a huff.

Soon we all made our way to the Tea Garden; as we entered we all saw Riddle sitting at a table that was prepared especially for us. "Welcome Dawn, I'm pleased to see you again.", Riddle greeted us with a polite small bow. I bowed back and said, "Thank you for meeting with us Riddle."

Perry then jumped from my shoulder to Riddle's and nuzzled his cheek. "Huh!?", Riddle blushed a bit as he was surprised by what was happening. I let out a small giggle and said, "I think Perry was a bit worried about you and wanted to make you feel a bit better."

"Kyu!", Perry squeaked, agreeing with what I said.

"I-I see. Then, thank you, Perry.", said Riddle with a small smile; he began to stoke underneath Perry's chin; Cater took a quick photo with his phone at the cute little scene happening.

As I looked around, I noticed that we were the only people here in the Tea Garden and said, "Won't anyone else come out to the garden?", I asked. Cater placed his arm around my shoulder and gave me a bright smile. "No need to worry Dawnie~. Riddle told the other residents that the Tea Garden has been reserved for a private meeting, so no one else will be here.", he explained.

"Will make sure no one else overhears any information about you as a KeyKeeper.", Trey added. Soon everybody sat down around the table; Trey helped pass around the food while Riddle helped with pouring tea for everyone. Once everybody got the refreshments, I decided that now was the time to talk about my powers and how I discovered them. I explained how this key was a present from my birth parents, how I was sent to Twisted Wonderland, how I discovered the guidebook in the library, and what powers I could do with my key so far. As I told them my story, Riddle and Trey were in shock and awe as they carefully listened to me, Cater looked dizzy as he tried to process everything he had heard so far. Ace and Deuce looked more neutral since they were the first people I told about my secret, and Grim was just munching on some cakes without a care in the world.
