Everything is burning! You can see the flicker on the horizon like the sun is rising that's how much flame there is. It honestly looks as though it's getting brighter, and with it, the shouting is nearing. Rioting has taken over the streets and possessed local people to loot and yell profanities.

"To hell with the supers"

"They all will rot in hell"

"Fuck them all"

The smoke is now forming its own cloud in the sky blocking the starry scene that was decent before all this happened. I truly want to go back to bed but there is somewhat of a humor to hear these people go nuts. Buildings are now exploding from the heat and the excitement from the rioters increases. Mobs of bodies flood the surrounding streets and alleyways with tons of flashing lights from the police. However, the police don't really care, they join in unison with the crazies to protest their hate for superheroes. Truthfully, fuck them! I myself, and my friends, risk everything all day, every god damned day to help them, save them, coddle their feelings and we get shit on. And I bet too that we will be blamed for the damages of tonight like our precious assholes, the citizens, are so innocent. I could interject but it would only expose me. I'm a master mage and have to cower like a loser in fear of being figured out by the government. This whole thing is bullshit but if I hadn't already lost people dear to me, I would have ended this.

The government went rogue a few weeks ago. First disappearances by renowned congressmen and women that stood by the heroes, but a few disagreements later and they were removed and never heard from again. Now the president is making public executions for everyone to see, those that tried to stop them were captured and never seen or heard of again as well. When they exposed and killed Theo, The Silver Rocket, most supers went into hiding with no word to anyone about it. Vortex shifted time and reality leaving through a portal, Intradepth walked away through a wall, and Pawn slipped away without a single trace. Then they had a way of exposing the magic users with Hexwitches. They majority volunteered to expose us as they have limited magic ability and have connections to the hero world. They're being compensated pretty nicely from what I've heard; some still look god-awful, but it may just be a preference to keep looking as repellent as they do. Many more heroes and mages are just gone, and the rest are either dead or captured awaiting their deaths.

Sadly, it only took a few weeks to convince everyone we were the bad guys when those exist as well. It's almost like they may as well be running around in the daylight showing themselves off because they've got all the brownie points compared to the supers. Some of them started saving people to get praise and some make public appearances to speak or escort the president. Between the constant slaughters and soul stealing you'd think we had more credit, but it seems null at this point. I rip the curtains closed and walk away from the door to the terrace. I don't see that parade of idiocy reaching all the way over here tonight. I shuffle passed the watch panel and click it off before heading down the hall to my bedroom. I figure I can sleep things off before hating the world again tomorrow. All this shit going on makes me want to disappear too but that really wouldn't do much, everything I've done and fought for would be pointless. I still couldn't sleep because of the chaos party happening outside, they're too loud for me to sleep.

The next morning, I attempted to eat breakfast but realized I was late for my meeting, so I dashed out the door quickly and headed down the stairs. I have a large home; it gets me every time I'm late because I'm the one stuck running down several flights of stairs and it's exhausting. It's even worse when I forget things because I have to go all the way back up those flights, then down again. Now there is a quick port spell to make things appear but sometimes it's not exact and I deal with artifacts and have lots of paperwork, so I'd rather grab what I need myself than rely on magic all the time. I work at a giant building that looks quite artistically pleasing on the outside as it does inside. It is also more of a privately owned business as we deal with the normals and the mage world so there aren't many workers but there is a mix, so we try to keep it mundane as possible. I got to my office and set up the necessary items needed for my meeting, paperwork mostly, some forms of release, records, past work information. I opened the contract and I recognize I've worked with this man before and more importantly I know he's from my world because his file is normal, for me. If he were non-magic, there would be an emblem on it in the corner that only we magic users can see. A knock came from the doorway to my office, and I looked up, a man stood there a little large in size and dressed in a solid black suit.
