I looked at Liza and she smiled back at me. "I'm glad she's in a better mood, you have a way with people Carson, even though you don't like many of them". I thanked her with a little bit of a laugh at her comment, she was right I don't like many people, but it was funny that I did just so happen to convince Ana to come back.
"You ready?", I asked holding out my hand. "We can't stay here for much longer, the Hexwitches will be crawling all over this place in no time from all the magic.
She looked at me thinking, then grabbing my hand saying, "okay but give me a second t-
"King's Row!", I said, and we zipped out of the room and came into an alleyway with a sunny sky but a little cool to the temperature. The first thing we heard was honking and the sound of rage spitting from car to car around us on the nearby street. She gave me a shocked look and said, "no fair, I just wanted a second to prepare myself".
"Sorry, I just don't want to waste any time", I told her.
You're really freaked out, aren't you?
Yes. . .but the faster we group some of the pieces, the quicker we can start trying to solve the puzzle. Think of it as collecting all the edge pieces and then we work on the center.
Okay, I can follow, so what do we do about outfits for now?
Starlight had a point, we appeared here suited up and now that it's a public setting we won't really need our hero garb. I tell her we should ditch it for the time being since we don't want attention and we can't exactly trust anyone to be excited to see us. Just like snapping our fingers the suits vanish off of us and we are wearing normal street clothes. We began walking down the block discussing what Insight's firm is called but neither of us knew. For some reason the only thing that came to mind of was "something- Law". The both of us walked for a while which led us to a park with beautiful trees and a gigantic pond. A food vender outside delayed our entrance as our stomachs began to wretch with starvation; I had almost forgotten I missed breakfast. We got sandwiches and drinks and entered the park walking down a path lined with many different flowers. After we gazed at the pathway Liza sped up like she was in a hurry. I gave her a curious look and then saw ahead of her an empty bench that she was trying to get to. When she caught up to it, she turned back towards me to make sure I followed and then sat down patting the space next to her as I reached the bench myself.
I thought of this as a good opportunity to ask her why the team split. Her and I are really close, but she never brought it up to me, I assumed this whole situation with the president allowing people to kill heroes was the reason. I asked her flat outright why it happened, and she looked at me for a moment then took a deep breath and said she really didn't want to talk about it. A lot of things were said to each other that she knows nobody really meant but it's just hard to fathom where to start to fix the issues. There are nine members that make up the Warrior Legion, and with that many people came just as many arguments. She told me how sorry she was for not telling me, but she did say that since I wasn't a member, she didn't want to bother me with their drama. I do respect that decision, but as my best friend I just figured she'd have said something while we spent the evening catching up. We both kind of dropped it for a second then I looked at her and told her it was going to be okay because they've worked together before, and they can do it again. Liza raised an eyebrow slightly and one side of her lips curled at the same time with a discerned look, she told me that maybe they could, but she didn't seem too hopeful.
The both of us dropped the conversation and just stared out across the extensive pond to think of what to do next, since neither of us figured out where Insight is. Birds chirped and people running down the paths laughing and playing took up some of the void from both our silences. A few minutes passed and I scoped the area just over the pond aimlessly one more time thinking when something stood out to me. I stood upright immediately throwing Liza out of silence as she gasped, startled from me moving so quickly. The statue!
