A Crumbling Society

Part 1-25

When the sound got closer, it was revealed there was no tapping at all but in fact an echo, that echo was a clap. One by one the hands clapped in rotation, like a fake clap when someone doesn't fully care about the excitement. We were all looking around and finally Whirlwind pointed, "there", she said, her face already looking above us. The group moved back to the center of the room to see who it was making the sounds. Worm stood right over us with the most disgusting grin on anyone's face you could imagine. Starlight let out an, "ugh", in disgust, I asked him what he was doing here.

"Why I'm here to celebrate the most exciting return of one of the Warrior Legion"

"Yeah?", I put out, "but how did you find us?"

"Well, you see, that was simple, when you and firelight stopped by to see me, I was so moved by what she said I had some of my tech attach itself to you. Both of you per say, and I listened in to every conversation you had after that."

"I didn't sense anything on me", I stated, looking towards Starlight and she gave me the same confused look.

"Of course not, I forgot to mention you didn't because I had a hexwitch charm it from your senses. Firelight there should've been nice, but since she was rude, I thought there was room for opportunity."

"You helped us though!"

"Did I?"

"Well yeah, in a way"

"Maybe it was just to distract you, these are hard times you know, and as everybody wants Summoner and Starlight, why not go bigger. The whole Warrior Legion sounded better." 

I had a split thought about our fight in India, this means that Bloodlust and Mimic weren't just after me, they wanted both of us. I misunderstood, that's why he was working with a villain. "So why didn't you turn us in when we were with you?", I hollered up.

"If I had done that then we wouldn't be at this decrepit place would we? There would have been no easy trip for me at all, I knew you hadn't finished finding the whole team yet. Once you found cry baby and the mute, I knew there was one more stop. Now, coming here, if I had known there was going to be a light show, I would have just tracked you but hearing all the excitement was worth this moment."

"I've done you favors, and you played me!"

"Yeah, but I had to do one for myself this time, oh, and them!"

We heard a scoff and turned to look; Dark Matrix was also standing above us now with Null walking up beside her. Phanta let out an "oh no", and we turned again in every direction. Streak, Vicious, Atomica, they were all here. The Society, with Antakarta's glowing eyes fixed on us as well. I looked back up, "You bastard, you absolute piece of shit", I yelled out.

"Sorry not sorry", he said chuckling and turned away, "maybe you make it, maybe you don't", and he walked away. Nothing walked up to fill the gap Worm left behind, Lunar Witch and Solar Knight also filed in. We were surrounded! They all looked at each other agreeing on some sort of plan, I looked at everyone down here and told them, "Stick together, we have this. There's ten of us and only nine of them."

Antakarta's laser eyes shot down and Starlight blocked with a light shield. Dark Matrix shot a green net that looked like a grid, Afterlife dissolved it with her gray magic. Solar Knight and Atomica jumped down to our level, a sword of fire blazed before us and explosive eyes began to glow. "Okay, new plan", Starlight called out, taking charge, "everyone pair up, take only who you can handle, Summoner you fall back on support, we can do this!". I got chills from her leadership, and the fact that the bravery got every single one of them fired up. "Go!", she said, Starlight heading for Antakarta, blasting him with star blasts. He blocked them with his forearm, the light from them gave her a chance to grab him and knock him backwards. The rest followed suit heading for their targets, Afterlife went for Lunar Witch fading into mist that traveled up to the top level. Archaic walked past us saying he was going to take care of Solar Knight, his hands out and swords beginning to appear. Streak started talking and we all realized Pawn had made his way over confirming he picked his person. Nothing tried to jump at us, and Castor spelled him sideways following his direction. Phanta took this time to charge after Atomica knocking into her as she released charges around her, they didn't land due to the impact. Insight's third eye opened, and he began flying upward towards vicious as her wings spread in anticipation. Gauntlet used his armor to launch up to the second level after Dark Matrix as she tried to throw another net out, he broke it in the air. Null had darted from position and lunged off the side tackling Whirlwind who spun back up on her feet after. I stood there, ready to assist anyone and everyone that needed so, I was ready to fight too.
