A Crumbling Society

Part 3-20

Simultaneously a crash was heard on the central floor, and a chime was made. Nix Gravity had just followed Kelvin 3 into the room which means that level was done. The light was getting closer, a red glow, but "Get down!". Lasers shot right through the entryway as Mega got in the way again. Then my senses pulled me to the elevator where several guards were now standing in a blockade. Their guns began firing at us at the same time, my shield went up. We were taking fire from two different directions, and I told everyone to hurry. I didn't hear anything and asked if everyone was alright, "uh, Carson", I got instead. Looking over my shoulder Phaser had hit the ground; blood was coming from his arm and leg. His portal was gone and there were still about fifteen heroes standing in here. All of them were in no condition to fight, Stargazer was now helping Phaser. "It's pretty bad", he gave Phaser's condition, "how are you holding up", I shouted at Mega. "Not bad but if he gets physical then we'll have a problem", she responded, that's when he stopped. Before any of us could respond a giant wall of ice formed a thick wall. Sealing him in the central hallway was a great change to our problem and we searched around the room. Kelvin 3 had stepped in and used her powers, "what?", she shrugged while speaking to the confused looks. "I remembered that frost is his weakness, maybe that'll hold him", she gave positivity. You could see him try and hit the wall, but it had no effect, then the lasers, but they proved to be weak as well. When his methods were useless, he flew up, blasting himself into the top level. Kelvin 3 acted fast; she exhausted another round of ice forming a second barricade in the entrance. And without hesitating she did it again to the bottom entryway. "My ice will continue to grow until he's fully trapped", she looked at us. "Well, that solves that problem", I stated, then she feinted and got caught by mega who flew over. He must have dug his way out of the burial he got after Mega threw him. And Kelvin 3 must have been the source as to why it was so cold earlier. This would explain why she didn't remember too much; her cell was transferring her power to the whole sublevel. "We need to get out of here", Mega said while hoisting Kelvin 3's body over her shoulder. Checking on Phaser I got a head shake saying "no" from Stargazer. Our only other option was to ask Vortex to do it, but she looked horrified.

"I've never done it" she worriedly told us

"It's okay, you'll do fine", I pushed for reassurance.

"There's so much pressure!", she didn't calm down.

The elevator doors opened again, and more guards poured in, they had silver colors on their uniforms. Their guns were glowing and soon after they took positions they also joined in on the shooting. Different bullets were smacking the shield I had, yellow in color and charged with energy. Anywhere they hit was eating away at my defense, they must be dampening the magic. In coordination each of them shot, the bullets swarmed the air and combined. A large blast molded itself and bombarded the shield causing it to shatter. "Samantha, right?", I questioned remembering her name, "It's okay", I told her as I put up another shield. "You can do this!", I encouraged, and Stargazer helped, "You got the elevator working when we thought we found nothing. It was you who got my powers working in the dark when we got down here too, I believe you can!". She put her hands out, gaining some confidence. Her eyes contained sparks igniting as a swirl of matter spun at her hands. My shield was taking more hits, in my distraction they readjusted their formation. Some of the guards were closer than before making the gunfire hit quicker. "Think about the base, with everybody there, that's where we want to go", I told her. The group of heroes waiting was getting nervous, so was I and so was the team. Obliterator was still smashing his way through the different levels trying to find a way out. We needed to leave, I was certain she was able to do it, her vortex grew around her figure. One appeared next to the group remaining and it moved itself down the line, absorbing each person. They disappeared and so did the vortex, the only people left were the Omega Legion, minus Phaser now, and Mega. Stargazer just realized that his teammates from Zero Flight were gone. Another attack to my shield, with red bullets and this one busted. It could be that the guns they have adapt to whatever power or ability is being used. I casted a cage of light at them stunning their group and knocking them out. This time the elevator door opened once more, and Queen Eclipse was standing there. Obliterator broke his way through the ceiling as well.
