Distraught formed inside my heart causing the weight to quadruple in size. My stomach had never felt so empty forming nausea making me feel sick at the thought. Crying was on the verge of what might happen, but it didn't come. Withdrawing myself and getting real quiet is what I ended up doing. Chuckling filled our closed space, "oh my god, you actually did it". Then there was laughter, "oh wow, this is great it really is!", she stated. "You just also may as well have killed these other losers for bringing them here too. The guards are reforming, all the exits will be blocked. You can't escape, but I'll say great job, you finally joined the villains!". That's where I stopped her, "I may have done what I did, but I'll never stoop to your level. Also, I may be a lot of things, but a liar isn't one of them", I threw the accusation at her. Silence killed the laughter and her stare tried to cut right through me, "what do you mean", she asked. Standing up to gain the higher ground, I expressed some things to her. "This whole time you've been giving me a story that you've assumed I wanted to hear. The fact that you lied about prisoners being taken away and possibly being experimented on is just sad. And the fake screaming and growling, you could have been more original with your lie. There's also no way in hell they would put a magical zoo inside this prison. Too many villains to stumble upon it and try and bring the creatures out, the logic is flawed. You haven't been here for twenty years; I've kept up with your transfer history. Six years, that's how long you've been at Xicot prison, and you've only been in this cell for two. The last time I was here was two years ago, I've been on this hallway, and you weren't here. That's why we never saw each other or were never close enough to sense the other's presence. It was the last time I participated in any heroics before walking away. As the riots picked up with the president getting weird, they got rid of everyone I knew in this prison. I've done my research, but you caught yourself in your own web of lies." She did not look so happy at me for calling her out, I also didn't care too much. The only thing that she could be right about is that I am responsible for killing the rest of the Warrior Legion. An oversight on my part but I'll deal with that later, I walked to the door of the room. Placing my hand right before the access panel she called out to me. "I don't want to hear your lies", I told her, not looking, "you've stalled me enough already. Thank you for telling me about the infinity hallway", I tried to keep it short and somewhat dismissive.
"Carson!", she said back this time. The tone changed, not from her knowing my real name but it felt more serious. Everything we had talked about went out the window and it was understood that I listen for real this time. I turned to face her; she wore the same look on her face as before. "Yes, I stalled, but for a good reason."
"And that is?"
"I really shouldn't be saying, to even speak its name is to put a bullseye on your back. There are no heroes down there in the sub-wing, any that came through here were housed only for a little while. They turned up dead or disposed of, by it, a villain that you and I both know is even worse than The Society. It's beyond any of their power levels, the one villain they kept out of the limelight."
"Who is it?", I asked, knowing there are a few villains that could be at the top of that list. And even Antakarta is a close match, but there are worse than him. I also hadn't paid too much attention to the fact that some of them haven't been seen a whole lot with this villain take over. My brows furrowed at her in trying to decipher whom she was speaking about.
"Obliterator!", she said. "He's here and waiting down there for them".
I have never moved so fast in my life, it felt like using Streak's powers, accessing the panel didn't do anything. It wasn't working, starting to hit it with my hand in place multiple times didn't do much either. "Let me out", I told her as she remained behind me. Turning again to face her, "let me out of here, now!", I demanded.
