We were now sitting in the living room, waiting for my mom. She went to the kitchen to get something to eat kahit na pinigilan na siya ni Vérene. But my mom keeps insisting on getting food.
"Hayaan mo na si Mom, gano'n talaga 'yon lalo na bihira lang kami magkabisita. Mostly kasi mga kaibigan lang nila yung pumupunta dito." Paliwanag ko kay Vérene na nahihiya dahil nakaabala pa daw siya.
"Mom! You know she enjoys watching movies as well!" When Mom returned with a tray in her hands, I exclaimed loudly. I looked across at Vérene, who was sitting peacefully next me. "My family enjoys watching movies together."
"Really?" I can feel sa boses niya na natuwa siya.
"Yes. She's the only one who doesn't want to watch." Mom pointed at me with her lips kaya napasimangot ako.
"Mom! It depends on the movie, okay?" Pagpapaliwanag ko at baka ma-turn off sa'kin si Vérene.
I heard Vérene chuckle. "I believe she is bored with everything."
"Hah! You're wrong. I have never been bored when I'm with you." I cheekily smiled at her. Kahit na kaharap pa namin sila mama, I will never get shy.
Muntik na ako mapasigaw dahil pasimpleng kinurot ako ni Vérene sa tagiliran. Tinignan niya ako na may pagbabanta. At dahil pasaway ako sorry siya, now that I knew she was becoming shy, I would love to tease her even more! Makita lang yung namumula niya pisngi dahil sa hiya.
"Have you watched Me Before You?" Rover asked and quickly glanced at Vérene and back to his laptop.
Raver and Rover are sitting on the carpet while mom and mama are on the three-sitter sofa habang kami ni Vérene magkatabi sa two-sitter.
"Not yet."
"Okay, let's watch this then." Raver played the movies tsaka tumabi kay Rover na nakadapa.
The movie started and I tried so hard to focus on para hindi ako masabihan na nabo-bored na naman. I leaned my head on the side but I couldn't seem to find a comfy place. Pasimple kong tinignan ang katabi ko na busy sa panonood. If ever na humiga kaya ako sa lap niya magagalit siya? I bet not. She wouldn't dare such a thing lalo na nandito sila mom. She'll be embarrassed to do something to me.
I moved slightly to her side at naghintay ng ilang sandali bago tuluyan humiga. I noticed that she was staring at me kaya nagpanggap akong busy manood at hindi siya pinansin.
"Shhh." Pinatahimik ko siya dahil tinatapik niya ako sa balikat. "Focus." I said and pointed at the TV.
Narinig ko siyang bumuntong hininga bago binalik ang focus sa movie. I knew it, wala siyang magagawa dahil nandito sila mama.
"Are you willing to dance with me kung mangyari sa'kin 'yan?" Umayos ako sa pagkakahiga sa lap niya at tinignan siya.
The guy was in the wheelchair and he was dancing with the girl. It was a sweet scene to be honest. Kahit ganon ang guy hindi nahihiya ang babae na isayaw ito.
"Mmm." She was thinking while still paying attention to the movie. "Try being in a wheelchair, and then let's see if I'm willing to dance with you."
