Hoseok staggered into his room, face planting on the bed. His body was exhausted, mind tired and heart in pain. He had drunk himself to numbness again. He chuckled at how frequent his visits to the brothel had become. After trying every other way, this was the only way he could manage to keep himself together, and even that did not help.

Out of habit, his hand pulled open the drawer of the bedside table and pulled out a ring. The one that the love of his life had given to him. He burst into tears at the memories it brought to light. This is not how he had imagined it. This is not how he had imagined him and Taehyung to end like. So many dreams, lying torn, the shreds stabbing his heart.

"Taehyung-ah" he called out, arm reaching out. But just as always, no took it.

"Do you like them?" Namjoon asked his husband

"Do you like them?" Namjoon asked his husband. He had noticed Seokjin staring at his bonsais more than once. "I do" the omega answered, shuffling to the side. He placed his towel on the bed and stood beside him, mindful of keeping appropriate. "Do you like bonsais?" the omega asked. Namjoon smiled, still staring at his plants, "I love them. In fact, they are the only plants that I can take care of as well. They are low maintenance and it does not take long to tend them" he chuckled. "Only bonsais?"

"Not only bonsais, but they are my favorite. What are your favorite?". Seokjin thought for a bit, "I like all species of flowering plants but my favorite will always be roses and white lilacs. Their meanings, the gentle and elegant shape that they have and their different shades never fail to amaze me. At home, I was the only one who fancied them so my parents had given me the permission to plant my own flowers in the corner of our garden. I had a special bed dedicated to my lilacs and roses. I had a few other species, the ones with small purple flowers on my windowsill" he said, eyes shining. "Petunia?" Namjoon asked.

"Yes" Seokjin nodded with a smile. "Why lilacs though?". "White lilacs because they look pretty and my parents told me they represent purity and innocence which they believe described me" he answered. "What about bonsai? What do they mean?". "From what I know... they mean stability and balance". Namjoon was afraid that all the talk about home would make the omega sad but so far he was engrossed in flowers which was a good thing. He never thought about the meanings behind flowers, but since his husband loved them and appeared to have a considerable knowledge about it, he decided that he was going to give it a try.

They fell into silence again, the sun almost set now, casting a black blanket over the night. This silence was unlike the previous one, not awkward and uncertain but nervous and curious. Both of them had so many things to say, but not knowing how to. From time to time, Namjoon stole glances at the omega who was completely oblivious to what was happening. The alpha realized he had never really looked at Seokjin. He hadn't ever traced the details of his nose and lips with his eyes, never watched a strand of hair fall over his forehead. He hadn't even had a good look at his eyes, mainly because the other always refused to meet his own.

Give it time, he told himself. One day, he would be able to do that without the fear of offending and scaring the omega away. But for now, he had to keep distance and hope that this heart of his took him in the right direction. Namjoon had figured it out last night that Seokjin was indeed destined to be his mate, destined to be tied in a bond with him that broke only with death. There was no other way to explain his alpha's extreme attraction towards the omega at first glance. Seokjin was destined to be his and Namjoon was destined to be Seokjin's. There was nothing that was going to change that fact.
