Katsuki held Izuku's hand as they walked from the alley way towards the middle school. The man who was their "dad" met them and headed to the building. Both teens were silent, on edge as they walked.
It had been nearly 10 years since they had been in traditional school. 10 long, sheltered, cherished years. And now they were without their siblings. Izuku sniffled as they neared the school, clinging to Katsuki tighter.
The blond knew that while Izuku was a little crazy...he wore his heart on his sleeve, and that included the fear of a new environment. All he could do was hold tight and mutter reassurances to his best friend and boyfriend - at least, that's what Toga called them.
The man looked back at them. "Seriously? I thought you two were some bad ass nut jobs like those other brats."
Katsuki sneered. "Fuck off, you dimwitted asshole. We can do this without your ass."
The man turned. "Yeah? And who's gonna sign you up and be the face of your parent? Dumbass kids. I should've asked for dou-"
Katsuki smirked as he stopped talking. Izuku stood, knife in hand and the tip pressed ever so gently against the man's leg. Green eyes stared up at him, a cold and cruel glaze replacing the fear.
"Based on your size, I wouldn't have to go deep before I cut just right, and you bled out," the green eyed demon breathed. "I'm sure our brother would understand. We could easily say it was a villain....no cameras are here..."
The man shook as he kept his eyes on the knife. "Sorry. Sorry, boss man."
Izuku smiled, and the knife was gone - hidden away again. "Good! Now let's go. I feel a bit better."
The man turned and hurried toward the school with Katsuki cackling. The two boys relaxed, the feeling of dread gone as they joked and prepared for the day.
Once inside, their "dad" took them to the office and handed over the papers the league had prepared. The secretary happily started entering the information when she froze.
"Um...please have a seat, sir," she said as she stood and headed for the principal's office, shaking. The man sighed and sat down, grunting in annoyance. Izuku and Katsuki sat beside him with the former leaning into the later.
The boys ignored the stares of students coming and going, whispering to each other before the door of the office flew open and a police officer stared at them. The principal stepped out and motioned him in. The boys huffed together.
"So the circus begins," Izuku muttered.
"Fucking extras." Katsuki wiggled lower into his seat, grumpy now. The day felt like it was slinking along as more officers arrived and they were moved into a conference room. Soon an officer entered, smiling at the boys.
"Good morning," he said as he sat down. "I want to let you boys know you are safe but we are going to interview this man in another room."
"Why?" Izuku asked, innocent eyes studying the officer. "He's my dad."
"I understand that, Midoriya," the officer smiled. "But because you have been listed as missing for ten years, we have to be sure."
The man sighed and stood. "Let's get this over. I have work."
A few officers frowned as they left with the man while the young officer smiled at the boys. "I'm Officer Tsukauchi," he said with a smile. "Are you okay if I ask some questions?"
"No," Katsuki snarled.
Tsukauchi nodded. "At least you're honest. Can you boys state your names?"
"Katsuki Bakugo," the blond grumbled.
"Izuku Midoriya, " the green haired boy answered, smiling.
"True," Tsukauchi muttered. "Now, can you-"
"Why do you do that?" Izuku interrupted.
Tsukauchi looked up. "Do what?"
"Say true or that we're telling the truth when we answer you," Izuku answered. "Is it your quirk?"
Tsukauchi smiled. "It is indeed. Very perceptive, Midoriya. Are you curious? "
"The damn nerd is always curious about quirks. It's his thing," Katsuki smirked. "He's got a whole set of notebooks all about quirks."
Izuku blushed and nodded. "I like studying them. I've been able to help Kacchan with his quirk a lot as we grew up."
Tsukauchi smiled and gave a soft laugh. "Well you're welcome to ask about my quirk if you'll answer my questions too. Like a give and take situation. What do you say?"
Izuku glanced at Katsuki, the two seeming to share some sort of unspoken communication before Izuku nodded. "I get the next question since we answered one of yours. Do we have to answer a question for it to work?"
Tsukauchi grinned. "That's how I've been trained to use it, so yes. My turn. Where have you been the last ten years?"
Izuku was busy jotting down information in his notebook on a fresh, clean page with the officer's name at the top. "New York City," he rattled off. "My dad moved us there. So do it work with everyone?"
"Yes, so far at least," Tsukauchi answered, marking his own information down. "Why did your father move you there?"
"Our moms died," Izuku answered, sadness in his voice. Katsuki set a hand on his leg, but stayed silent. "What rank are you?"
"Oh, I'm just starting out," the officer laughed nervously. "Do you remember what happened to your moms?"
"Villain attack," Katsuki answered when Izuku's jaw clenched. "It's not a good memory."
Tsukauchi frowned. "I am sorry you had to see that. Were your fathers' there?"
Izuku looked up. "You skipped my turn," he said. "That's not fair."
Tsukauchi gave an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry. I was just trying to help figure out where you boys have been. We've been searching for you for ten years."
Izuku frowned, sinking back into his chair. "I don't wanna talk anymore."
Katsuki pulled Izuku close. "No, our dads weren't there. His dad found us when we were on the street. He fled. Afraid we were targets or that he'd get blamed. Now leave us alone. We just want a normal life."
Tsukauchi listened. His quirk said they were telling the truth...but something made him doubt the story. He just nodded, getting up. "As soon as they're done, we'll get you settled into class, ok?"
Neither boy responded. Tsukauchi sighed and left to file out his report. Neither boy got into a classroom that day. The officers grilled the man posing as Izuku's father for hours while the kind secretary brought the boys lunch and some books to read. Izuku wound up napping against Katsuki until the man came back and said they were going.
"See you tomorrow boys!" The secretary called, her face bright. Izuku waved back as they left. The walk was quiet despite the stares that were starting.
"Let's go hone," the man grunted. "I'm tired."
"Lazy ass," Katsuki grunted. "It wasn't like you were in a fight. Jeez, the asked some fucking questions. You stick to your story?"
"Of course! I'm not missing out on this paycheck," the man sneered.
Izuku smirked. "Then stop bitching, dad."
Katsuki barked out a laugh as they reached their 'street.' Together they walked into the house, away from prying eyes. The man went to grab a drink as a warp gate opened and the boys went through.
On the other side, Shigaraki asked how it went. Izuku just groaned as Katsuki told them all to fuck around and find out as they headed for their room.
