Aizawa knew this was going to be hard.   He had anticipated having to be patient with them.  After all, they had been raised by villains.   He hadn't expected what was happening now on their first day in their new home.

Before him he saw Hizashi pressing a towel to his arm, standing in front of a cornered Izuku and Katsuki - Izuku was crouched on the floor shaking and crying while Katsuki stood in front of him with teeth bared and steak knife in hand.

"Kat, please calm down," Hizashi was saying gently.  "I'm not going to hurt him, I swear it."

"Stay back, you fucker!" Katsuki snarled, hand white knuckled on the knife.  "Move an inch and I gut you!"

Aizawa sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose.  "Zashi?"

The blond didn't take his eyes off the pair in front of him.  "Izuku knocked a cup off the counter.   I went to make sure he was okay, and he flinched.  Katsuki grabbed the knife out of the sink and tried to protect him."

"I ain't trying bird man!" Katsuki spat.  "Just try it, I dare ya!"

Aizawa sighed and moved over so he got between his fiancé and their foster boys.  "Katsuki, put the knife down.  Izuku is safe here.  So are you.   It was an accident.   It's just a cup."

The blond glared, his grip loosening just a hair.  "You're...not gonna hit him?"

Aizawa shook his head.  "Neither of us will ever lay a hand on either of you unless we are grabbing you to protect you.   Can you put your knife down, kiddo?"

Katsuki hesitated again, then slowly let his arm drop.   "Promise?"

Aizawa nodded.  "Why don't you calm down our green bean and I'll see to Hizashi, okay?"

Katsuki nodded and set the knife back into sink and dropped down to pull Izuku into his arms.  Too many times Shigaraki had reacted poorly to one of them that it was a conditioned response to protect each other when something was broken outside of training.  Izuku turned, clinging to his safety net as Katsuki whispered reassurances.

Aizawa only turned his back once the two boys were focused on each other.    "Let me see, bird man," Aizawa teased.  His blond fiancé sighed and offered his arm.  Aizawa slowly pulled the towel away, studying the jagged slash.   "He got you good, didn't he?"

The blond nodded.  "Yeah...I didn't think," Hizashi huffed.  "I should have guessed based on what you said.  Let's just clean it, wrap it and not make a big deal out of it."

Aizawa smiled.  "Don't want to hear it from Recovery Girl?  Big bad hero loses to a kitchen knife."

Hizashi frowned, wrinkling his nose.  "It isn't a kitchen knife when it's held by a highly skilled fighter."

Aizawa glanced over at their two boys, Izuku slowly calming down in Katsuki's arms.  "Our highly skilled fighter.   Go wash it out and let me check on them, okay?"

The blond nodded and left, letting Aizawa move to sit near his boys but not encroaching on their space.   He sat in silence, letting them notice him first.  Izuku looked ashamed and Katsuki was wary.

"How do you feel, Izuku?" Aizawa asked softly.   He saw the green eyes flicker up towards him then away.  "Not safe...got it.  What can I do to make your home feel safe?"

Neither boy responded, just clinging to each other.  Aizawa let them sit in silence as he just was there.  He kept his hands loose and limp across his knees, sitting slightly hunched over to appear smaller and less of a threat.  He watched them, letting them just be in his presence.  Green eyes flickered up at him from time to time as the two just held each other.
