The next day, Aizawa alerted Snipe, Ectoplasm, and Nedzu about the boys' decision. Ectoplasm was a bit saddened, but swore he'd work on gaining their trust to maybe luck out later. Nedzu worked on a new schedule for the two boys. By the start of the next school day, both boys were pulled for some testing by Nedzu himself. It amazed the Rat God just how smart his two students were and he tried, unsuccessfully, to get Katsuki to agree to classes with Izuku. The blond scoffed, saying he'd rather not mess with all that. Instead he'd rather focus on training, but Izuku was practically trembling with excitement at getting more of a challenge.
So by the end of the day, both boys were camped out in Aizawa's classroom comparing their new schedules. They stayed with Aizawa for homeroom, but beyond that their days were going to be very different. Izuku's whole morning was blocked out for his lessons with Nedzu - mostly college level classes - and Katsuki was still with their class. Izuku wound up at lunch a hair before their class, but his afternoon was with their classmates while Katsuki spent 5th & 6th periods with Snipe for specialized training classes before rejoining for their training with Aizawa at the end of the day. Aizawa hid his smile in his scarf as the two compared and Izuku whined about still having the standard "heroics" classes while Katsuki got special training.
"You're fault, nerd," Katsuki countered. "Ghost man wanted you to train with him."
Izuku squirmed in his seat. "Seriously? I'm amazed you're willing to be alone with Snipe."
Katsuki shrugged. "He wants to train me. He caught me at lunch today and we spoke about his ideas. I bet if you gave Ghosty a chance he'd have the same conversation with you."
Izuku chewed on his lip, studying his schedule. Aizawa glanced at him as he paused in his grading. He sat back, studying his boys a moment before he spoke.
"Ecotplasm said he wanted to work on gaining your trust," Aizawa announced. "If you'd like, I could see about having Ectoplasm train you in the same gym as Snipe is working with Katsuki. Your classmates will be sad that you're not going to be with them most of the day...but it is your choice."
The green haired gremlin seemed worried. "Can...I think about it?"
Aizawa nodded as he stood. "Shall we head home? Hizashi is cooking tonight and he said something about Katsudon."
Two heads snapped up and towards him. "Seriously?"
Aizawa paused at the duel voiced cry. "Yes. Is that okay?"
Izuku's eyes grew damp as Katsuki crushed his schedule in his hand. It surprised Aizawa when Izuku gave a smile and spoke first.
"My mom...that was the last meal she made for the two of us," he said softly. "It was our favorite as kids and she had made it for our lunches...for that day."
Aizawa pulled out his phone. "I can call him and-"
"No," Katsuki said firmly. "That's...a good memory. Maybe...it can be a good memory with you two?"
The raven haired teacher felt his heart swell again. "Want me to warn him that there's some emotion attached to this? Or do you want to see him squirm if you cry?"
Izuku, despite the tears in his eyes, smirked. "Squirm, please...it's fun to watch him."
"Always a brat," Aizawa chuckled as he put his phone away. "Ready?"
The two boys nodded and followed him out. Izuku paused at the front door to the school, his eyes glowing a moment. He suddenly turned sharply, then frowned. His eyes scanned the hallway, entire body tense.
