Aizawa slowly opened the door, looking in. The lights had been dimmed, so it was hard to spot the two boys at first. Once his eyes adjusted, he spotted the two huddled in a corner. The bookshelf had been forced away from the wall and the two were squished between it and the wall. Aizawa had to admit that while it was stupid as it limited their movements, it was also brilliant as a less observant hero would have looked right past them. The underground hero slipped in, listening as he moved in near silence.
"Shhh, nerd," Katsuki's voice breathed. "Just breathe for me."
"I failed...I fucked up," Izuku sniffled. It tore at Aizawa's heart how broken Izuku sounded. "Big brother is gonna be so pissed at me."
Katsuki chuckled. "Izu, that crusty ass idiot isn't going to be pissed at you. His fuckin' orders nearly got you killed and you haven't been allowed to let loose. It was bound to happen for you. He forgets the hurricane you are."
"What if I'm dead weight?" Izuku sobbed. "If he orders it...they'll toss me to the heroes and laugh about it."
"Then I'm getting my ass tossed, too," Katsuki growled. "We're a partnership, nerd. You can't get rid of me that easy."
Aizawa smiled. He saw the hope he had seen after reading their files. He slowly stepped back and loudly knocked on the doorframe again. The two whispered voices went silent and Katsuki was suddenly standing at the 'entrance' to their hideout.
"The fuck you want, asshole?" the blond snarled.
Aizawa dropped the folders onto the table and sat down. "To talk, Bakugo. Can you get Midoriya out here so we can?"
"We don't want to talk to you," Izuku's voice came from the shadows, voice dripping with dislike.
"Its about your mothers," Aizawa sighed.
"Don't you fucking say shit about them!" Izuku's growl was just as chilling when it was directed at him as it had been directed at Monoma. Only Katsuki's body kept the green haired teen from lunging out of their found space.
"Izuku, sit your ass down," Katsuki ordered. "We aren't picking a fight with the old man. Not surrounded by heroes that'd love to see us dead."
"No one wants you dead, Bakugo," Aizawa scolded. "You're kids who were lied to, betrayed, and hurt."
Katsuki laughed, cold and cruel. "Then fuck you know about being hurt or betrayed? Your fuckin' society betrayed us before we even were old enough to know it."
"How?" Aizawa leaned forward, curious.
"How? Before the League Izuku was considered quirkless! He would have been killed or abused or...or..." Katsuki struggled for another word.
"Treated as less than," Aizawa finished for him. "That is true, sadly, and I am sorry about that. But I don't see how that makes you not kids that were lied to and betrayed. Because that is exactly what the League did to you both for years."
"They haven't!" Izuku snarled, tears hanging off his lower eyes lashes. "They've been the only family we've had! And they never treated me differently because of it. They wanted me to feel strong and powerful and important."
"And I'm glad that they treated you so well in that regard," Aizawa said, his tone showing how much he meant those words. It soothed the rage that was in the two boys, giving him space for the next important fact. "But your mothers were murdered by the League so they could get you."
Katsuki snarled, a deep pain in his eyes that were echoed by the milky green ones over his shoulder. "Shut your fucking mouth before I shut it for you."
