In case it's not clear, I actually accepted their offer. It may sound a little crazy, but I just spent my whole Sunday in the wonders of Manila City.
"And, cut! Perfect, Christina!"
"Very good job!
I feel like an instant celebrity because of their treatment of me. It was too much!
"Thank you ulit sa pagpayag, Christina. You don't know how much it means to our team," Giselle told me with a soft smile.
I smiled back at her. Giselle has been very kind, and she treated me really well. She is also very humble despite coming from a well-off family.
"Let's meet pa rin, ah? So, we can chitchat," sabi pa niya at hinawakan ang dalawang kamay ko.
"Or, do you wanna visit the publishing house some other time?"
Giselle Lacsamana, a 20-year old Mass Communication student at St. Dominic University, is a daughter to a renowned journalist and a movie screenwriter. Not to mention that her auntie is the co-founder of Dreams Publishing company.
"Oh! I can give you a copy pala of that book I used as a guide when I was starting. Tips siya for writing your own novel. I'll visit you na lang sa library some other time!"
Giselle pouted. "Why? Writing is fun and pwede ring profession."
For people like you—with the connections, resources, who grew up in a family of writers and most of all, blessed with talent and privileged with education.
I wanted to voice that out, but I might appear bitter when she's been too kind to me to hear that reality—which is something beyond her control, anyway.
Before we started shooting, the team already set my proper expectations about the fee, since it's gonna depend on the approved budget. I wasn't really expecting much, but I'd like to be, at least, paid for the hours I spent today.
