Chapter 9: Yuta

"Did you hear about the new transfer student coming today?" Panda asks while walking with his two classmates. "They say he stuffed four of his old classmates in a locker. Didn't kill them, but gravely injured."

"Huh." Maki sighs. "Well if he's cocky I'll put him in his place."

"Bonito flakes." Inumaki says.

The three of them make their way to a classroom where they find (Y/N) waiting.

"(L/N)." 

"Oh, good morning Maki." the girl smiles. "And Panda."

"Morning." the latter replies.

"Bonito flakes." Inumaki says in a disgruntled tone.

"Okay grump head." (Y/N) laughs. "Good morning Toge."

"Kelp."

"Why are you here?" Panda asks the (H/C) haired girl.

"Same as you guys, to meet the new student."

"You haven't met him yet?" Maki questions.

"Nope. And your teacher's late."

"Of course he is." the girl with dark green hair states.

Barely a second later, a man wearing a white blindfold storms into the room.

"STUDENTS OF ALL GRADES! WE HAVE! A NEW! STUDENT!" Gojo shouts, waving his hands around. "Get excited!!"

"I heard he's a sour one. The last thing I need is someone like that to look after." Maki remarks.

"Salmon." Inumaki agrees.

Their teacher sighs.

"Oh well then." he says. "You can come on in now."

A boy opens the door and walks in. As soon as he stepped into the room, it was filled with an incredibly strong curse, causing the three other students to immediately stand up and get ready to attack.

"Hey." (Y/N) says in a stern voice, shielding the boy from the others.

"Is this some kind of test?" Maki asks, her spear lodged in the blackboard, close to the new student's head.

Gojo dragged (Y/N) away from the commotion and told her to just watch for now.

"Don't you know you're cursed?" the girl with glasses continues. "This is a place to learn about curses, not a place for the curse to be hanging around."

"The number of people that die mysterious deaths or go missing in Japan is over ten thousand a year on average. The majority of those are actually not accidents but are caused by curses or evil curse users.  You see, only curses can affect other curses. This place is where we learn about curses to exorcise them. Welcome to Tokyo Jujutsu High School." the white-haired man says.

"He's just telling me this now??" the boy thinks to himself, practically horrified.

"What..? He's just telling him that now..?" the three other students deadpan at the same time, dropping their hostile positions and turning to their teacher.

"My bad." he apologizes. "Oh, you should all back away pretty quickly."

"Huh?" they ask, confused.

Without warning, two large hands appear from behind the new student.

"DO NOT-" a voice exclaims.

"Rika stop!"

"BULLY YUTA."

The hand reaches for the students.

"Rika.." (Y/N) mutters to herself while watching the boy calm this curse down.

It took a little while.

"So, this boy was cursed by his friend Rika who is still madly in love with him." Gojo explains. "Be nice to him, or elseee Rika will get you! Remember, if you attack Yuta, Rika's curse will get you. Or maybe it won't. It's hard to say. So be careful everyoneee."

"Now he tells us." Maki grumbles.

"Since these fine students are acting all cool, let me introduce them quickly." the blindfolded man says.

"I have a feeling the teacher's the problem, not the students." Okkotsu thinks.

(Y/N) couldn't hold back an amused smile hearing this.

"This is the curse tool user, Maki Zenin. She uses special tools to exorcise curses." Gojo introduces. "This is the curse speech user, Toge Inumaki. He can only speak in riceball ingredients, so have fun chatting."

"Kelp." the boy greets.

"And this is Panda." the teacher continues.

"Hi, I'm Panda. It's nice to meet ya."

"Okayy you're all set." the blindfolded man says.

"But I'm still not sure what I'm doing here." the boy thinks in panic.

"Yuta." a girl standing near the window calls out, a slightly amused smile on her face. "You'll be training with them. You're a student here now. A curse user."

"O-oh okay." he answers.

"Ahh I forgot to introduce her!" Gojo exclaims. "That's (F/N) (L/N)."

"Hi." the girl smiles.

"Alright then! Our first-grade class is a solid four students!"

"So, what do you think of our new student?" the white-haired man asks, flopping down on (Y/N)'s couch.

"He seems like a nice kid. I still don't understand the case exactly though."

"Me neither. But this is still better than having him executed."

"That's for sure. No one should ever be allowed to take youth away from a young person. They just can't seem to understand that."

Gojo looks at her slightly surprised before grinning.

"You're being poetic." he teases.

"Oh shut up."

The man laughs. (Y/N) sits down beside him with a sigh.

"I forgot to stop the mind reading with Yuta. I can still hear everything he's thinking."

"Heyyy he's pretty far away too. I guess you're improving." Gojo says.

The girl gives him a dry look and he smiles in amusement, pulling her into a side hug.
