"Man, I almost missed the whole game." (Y/N) said in a disappointed tone as she arrived.

After asking the students, the exchange event was put back into motion despite the unexpected events that had occurred. Gojo had pulled some strings behind the principals' backs, so they played baseball instead of doing individual battles.

"(F/N)!" Gojo, along with a few students waved at her.

She waved back before walking to the Tokyo students' side as Inumaki hit the ball.

"Whoa, he's safe!" Itadori exclaimed.

"Inumaki is a fast runner, you know." Megumi replied.

"Heck yeah! Let's go Toge!" (Y/N) cheered.

Soon enough, the game ended with the Tokyo students as winners (2-0, they totally crushed them), which got Gojo grinning like an idiot.

......

It was almost evening when (Y/N) heard a knock at the door and opened it to see Megumi.

"Oh hey." she smiled. "You need anything?"

"Uh. No not really."

She gave him a confused look so he continued.

"I wanted to ask you something." he said. "Could we.. go outside?"

"Okay, no problem. Let me change my shoes quickly." she replied.

The two of them started walking around the schoolyard in silence. To the (H/C)-haired girl's surprise, Megumi was the first to break it.

"What happened to Itadori?" he asked bluntly.

"What makes you think I'd know?" she chuckled.

"It seems likely."

"He just.. saw a lot." (Y/N) answered softly. "You know how it is. Sometimes it feels like there's too much to handle, but there's nothing you can really do about it. So you just suck it up and try to get stronger. I know you've realized it, Yuji is getting much stronger."

He glanced at her as she continued with a sigh.

"We're jujutsu sorcerers, this is just the world we live in."

She shivered slightly as the evening wind blew harder. Noticing that, Megumi removed his uniform jacket and draped it around her shoulders.

"It's pretty chilly, put it back on." (Y/N) said, about to take it off.

"I'm in a long sleeve and you're in a t-shirt. You're more likely to get cold." he replied, holding the jacket in place to prevent her from taking it off.

She turned to look at him and let out a small laugh.

"You really are just my little Gumi, but all grown up now."

The boy frowned at the nickname which made her laugh even more.

"See! You still make the same face when I call you that!"

......

Eventually, the two of them stopped walking and sat down on a hill. Megumi took (Y/N) by surprise yet again by asking a question she did not expect.

"What was your family like?"

"Are you feeling okay?" the girl asked, genuinely concerned before understanding washed over her. "Ohhh. Is this because of what Nobara said?"

"H-how did you know?"

"She mentioned it once when we were getting food together. Something about how you seem to not know me very well even though we've known each other for years. I guessed she was either going to bring that up with you or had already."

"Oh."

"If it reassures you, I think you know me well enough." she said. "If you want to hear about my life I can tell you, but it's pretty boring and typical."

"I don't think having neither of your parents is typical." he replied.

"Rich coming from you."

"Gojo said your dad was a sorcerer?" the boy asked, ignoring the comment she'd made.

"He wasn't a very strong one, but yeah. My mom wasn't. They met in a cafe and fell hopelessly in love." (Y/N) explained. "Compared to a lot of sorcerers, I had a pretty good childhood. It's a pity I don't remember much of it though."

She smiled bitterly.

"I was about five or six years old when my mother died. Of course, she was killed by a curse." the girl continued. "My father loved her with all his heart, he was devastated when she left us. Not long after, he took his own life. He loved her so incredibly much, I don't think there was much love left for me you know?"

Her voice had grown quieter as she looked off into the sky, where the sun had started to set.

"Did you live alone after that?" Megumi asked, summoning his demon dog which jumped to her.

"Yep." she answered with a slight laugh, petting it with a smile. "And then I met Principal Masamichi. He learned that I could use reverse curse technique and that I didn't really have anyone with me, so he enrolled me in Jujutsu High pretty quickly."

(Y/N) scooted closer to the boy so he could also pet the dog.

"I got to meet some of the greatest people here." she grinned, her smile now filled with fondness and nostalgia. "It was amazing."

They were both watching the beautiful sunset as (Y/N) continued.

"But.. nothing stays the same forever. Things change, and.. so do people." she said, pausing for a bit. "After that, I got to meet you and Tsumiki. The rest is history."

The two of them sat there in a comfortable silence.

"Were there any other students you met before they came here?" Megumi asked after a while.

"Just you and Toge." (Y/N) answered. "I went to meet him six months before he came to our school. I'd been told that he often isolated himself because of his cursed speech. I thought maybe talking through mind reading could help him a bit. He slowly got comfortable communicating with people after he got here, and look at him now."

The dark-haired boy nodded. Suddenly, a bright, easily recognizable voice was heard.

"Hey! How come I wasn't invited!" Gojo teased, walking over.
