Chapter 12: Suguru

The day was here. December 24th. Curses were unleashed and sorcerers were ready to fight. (Y/N) was standing beside Gojo, looking around.

"Suguru's not here..? That doesn't make any sense.." she thinks. "Unless..."

"Gojo! I have a report." Kiyotaka says, running over. "Oh, what's the matter?"

The blindfolded sorcerer was thinking pretty much the same thing as (Y/N), wondering where Geto was.

"Just lost in thoughts." he replies. "What's up?"

"This isn't the best time, but I thought you should know. It's about the investigation about Yuta you requested."

He told him about what they'd found.

"He's at school." (Y/N) whispers, her eyes wide.

"Panda! Toge!" Gojo calls out, quickly walking to them. "I'm sending both of you to Jujutsu High right now."

"Huh??"

"Geto is there. He has to be, I'm absolutely certain. Probably." the man says.

"Well which is it!?" Panda asks.

"He's there." (Y/N) answers.

"If my intuition is right, Maki and Yuta might both die." the blindfolded man adds. "I'll join you after I take care of that foreign sorcerer."

"I'm going." the girl with (H/C) says, stepping into the circle he'd drawn.

"No, you aren't." Gojo replies. "You're staying here. "

"You don't get to tell me what to do." she glares at him. "I'm going. It's Suguru they'll be against. What the hell are you trying to do?"

The white-haired man drags her out of the circle by her arm.

"(F/N) no. Plus, Shoko will need you soon." he says before turning to the two students. "Protect them with your lives."

"Right."

"Salmon."

Their teacher then teleports them away.

While Panda and Inumaki get to school and start fighting Geto, Gojo starts battling Miguel, and (Y/N) starts exorcising curses, helping out lower-level sorcerers.

......

The battles were going on intensely. Everywhere. There were a lot of injuries too.

"Shoko, this one needs your help."

"Just set him down and I'll be there soon."

The girl looks around.

"You really forced a heap of trouble on us Geto." she thinks.

"Shoko!" (Y/N) shouts, running towards her. "Here as soon as I could. Sorry for being a little late, got stuck in traffic."

"In the sky?"

"Mhm. There's a surprising amount of flying curses, they kept trying to block my way." she replies. "Okay, let's not waste more time."

The brown-haired girl nods and they both start with their work.

"Shoko."

The girl turns around and meets (Y/N)'s (E/C) eyes, shining with what seems to be urgency. She immediately understood.

"I can handle this for now. Go. Call me when you're done, I'll tell you if I need you to come back." the brown-haired girl says. "And if you see him, could you tell him something for me?"

......

She saw him. He was sitting in an alley, badly injured.

"Suguru!"

He looks up to see her with her hand out as if she was going to heal him. Before he could say anything, she pulled it back.

"I can't, I'm sorry." (Y/N) says. "Yuta and Maki, they matter to me. And I can't get executed just yet. I made a promise. It's still too soon."

Her gaze wanders away from his shoulder.

"I- I got those girls out of trouble earlier. The two that came to school with you last time. They're the ones you rescued back then aren't they?" 

Geto looks at her, slightly surprised.

"Yes, they are."

"And Shoko. She asked me to say something for her." the girl continues, not meeting his eyes. "She wanted me to tell you that you caused a lot of trouble for all of us today. And that you've still got no talent for reverse curse technique."

He stays silent for a few seconds before chucking.

"I'm so sorry." (Y/N) says, finally looking into his eyes. "I'm sorry for not noticing, I'm sorry for not being there, I'm so sorry..."

Tears were brimming in her eyes.

"You don't have to apologize for anything (F/N). I'm grateful to y-"

A sudden hug cut him off. A tight hug. The type that screams '"please don't go".

"Thank you Suguru." she whispers. "For everything."

"Thank you too." Geto replies, hugging her back with one arm and gently brushing his fingers through her hair. "Seems like I learned to braid for nothing."

"Did you actually?"

"Of course I did."

"I'm so gonna miss you." (Y/N) says, letting out a slight, sad laugh before breaking the hug. "Any words for Shoko?"

"She still hasn't paid me back for the lighter I bought." he replies, a light smile on his face.

The girl chuckles at his response. She then reaches for his earring, removes it, and puts it in her pocket.

"Gojo should be getting here soon." (Y/N) says, standing up. "Wait for me okay? We'll meet again."

She gives him a warm, almost nostalgic smile before turning around and walking away.

"I hope it won't be too soon. But I'll be waiting."

He wasn't sure if those words had reached her.
