A/N: So there will be a self-harm moment in this chapter, I will indicate it when we get there. Please skip it if you don't feel comfortable. You can also just skip this chapter if you prefer (this chapter's timeline is mainly the first half of ep. 5 of season 2). Knowing what happens in the episode will make the next chapter(s) a little easier to understand :)

A year passed, Gojo got much stronger and could complete missions on his own now. Although (Y/N) continued working on her combat skills, she'd stopped "rebelling" and started paying attention to all her classes, including the medical ones. Like Shoko, she still wasn't allowed on any dangerous missions.

That meant Geto started spending more time alone. All summer, he kept exorcising curses and absorbing them. Over and over.

"I have to fulfill my duties as a jujutsu sorcerer." he forces himself to think while sitting outside.

"Suguru!" a cheery voice calls out, snapping him back to reality. "Mind if I sit beside you?"

"No, go ahead." he replies.

"You look exhausted, are you okay?"

"Yeah, don't worry about me. Where are Satoru and Shoko?"

"No idea." (Y/N) shrugs. "Hey, your hair's gotten pretty long. Can I play with it?"

"What are you, five? Sure." the boy chuckles. "(F/N).. Are-"

He stops and she glances at him curiously.

"What?" the girl asks.

"Nothing."

"Oh come on, you can't do that!"

"Yes I can." he says with an amused smile. "Plus, I thought you could read minds."

"Do you want me to read your mind?"

Geto glances at her. Her expression, like her voice, seemed a little confused but gentle.

"I can if that's what you want." she continues. "It's just that I usually never read my friends' minds. Because well, privacy invasion. And no matter how much you justify it, it's still a curse."

"Oh really? I thought you were constantly aware of what we were all thinking." he laughs slightly. "And no, I'd rather you not read my mind."

"Sure thing."

"(F/N) could you possibly like Satoru?" he suddenly asks.

"Huh? Where did that come from?" the young girl replies.

"Not sure, just out of curiosity"

"Does it matter whether I like him or not?" she says after a few seconds of silence. "It's not like that's gonna do anything."

Before he could answer, she stands up.

"Well, I have to get going, Shoko wanted us to meet up."

"Okay, see you later." he says.

(Y/N) smiles and waves as she runs off. After she was out of sight, Geto touches his hair and finds it in a neat braid. He couldn't help but smile.

"Braids are cute, and pretty too. They're even quite badass sometimes. Too bad I don't know how to do them on myself."

......

A few days later, Geto had the chance to talk to his junior, Haibara, after a shower. The kid was so wholesome and positive, it was different. A good change from everything happening in his head. Their conversation was interrupted by a woman. After Haibara left, she introduced herself as Yuki Tsukumo, a special grade sorcerer.

The two of them started talking. Yuki told Geto about her ideas of creating a world where curses don't exist and as their conversation went on, his perspective seemed to be slowly shifting.

......

(A/N): The self-harm moment is coming up, feel free to skip if you're not comfortable.

"DAMMIT." Nanimi yells. "But it was a grade 1 case.."

"You can rest." Geto says after a few seconds of silence. "Satoru took over the case."

"Might as well have him take care of everything."

The dark-haired boy stared at Haibara's corpse.

"What if, at the end of it.. All my friends are dead?" he thought.

"DAMMIT." (Y/N) scream breaks the silence.

The two others turn their heads in her direction and were shocked by the sight. The (H/C)-haired girl was holding a knife and stabbed it in her hand before pulling it out.

"Dammit.." she repeats, stabbing the sharp object into her hand again before pulling it out slowly.

Geto stared in shock.

"(F/N) stop it!" he says, grabbing her wrist tightly. "What are you doing!?"

He sounded almost angry. Nanami had stood up at that point and he was watching, wide-eyed, as blood dripped from her hand.

"Useless.." (Y/N) whispers as she stops resisting and lets her friend take the knife out of her grip. "I'm so useless... What's the point..?"

Her voice was painfully quiet. But it was the only thing that could be heard in the room.

"I can't just stay around and wait, they're dead when they get here.."

The tears in her eyes were on the verge of falling. Geto loosened his grip and Nanami walked over.

"(L/N). Heal your hands." he says. "The blood is dripping everywhere."

The girl stares at the injured hand and then the floor before holding it with her intact hand and after a few seconds, lets go, revealing only a light scar.

"I'm sorry about all that." she apologizes with a slight bow. "I promise it won't happen again."

She then walks out of the room quietly, leaving the two others behind.
