Chapter 8: Everyday

Shoko and (Y/N) were eating lunch together on the school grounds.

"So that kid of yours, he's gonna be here next year?" Shoko asks.

"Yeah." the other replies. "And he's not my kid."

"Seems to me like he's you and Gojo's child." the short-haired girl teases.

(Y/N) looks at her friend with raised eyebrows.

"Honestly I'm a little surprised at how much time he manages to spend with them. With his schedule, you know." she sighs. "Like yesterday he finally had a day off, but ended up having to go to a meeting with Megumi's teacher again."

"Were you both called in?"

"Yep."

"So you and him. You two got together yet?" Shoko questions.

"Of course we haven't." (Y/N) says before changing the subject. "What about you, how've you been? We haven't had much time to talk recently."

"Not bad." the other sighs. "Busy, that's for sure."

"Tired?"

"Yeah, unfortunately."

"Well if you ever need some extra help feel free to call me." (Y/N) smiles.

"Good to know." her friend smiles back. "Help from a talented young lady like you is always gonna be appreciated."

"Says the prodigy."

"You're a prodigy yourself."

"Shoko, you've been able to use reverse curse technique since birth."

"And you're three years younger than me but we were in the same grade."

"You're a doctor."

"You refused to be a doctor."

The two girls laugh. Although they had less time to spare, spending moments with each other was always fun.

(Y/N) was out getting groceries with Tsumiki while Gojo was at home with Megumi, cooking.

"Um.. (F/N)?"

"Yeah?"

"Sorry for the trouble Megumi and I caused you and Gojo." the girl says. "And thank you so much for taking care of us."

"Are you okay?" the older girl asks after a few seconds of confused silence.

"Yeah?"

"You don't need to thank me you know?"

"I- Yeah.."

"Did something happen?" (Y/N) questions.

"No no. It's just- Megumi said he wasn't gonna fight anymore, but yesterday, well-"

"Did we wake you up?"

"Huh?" Tsumiki asks, confused.

"Yesterday. Me and Gojo were talking. We woke you up didn't we?" the other girl says. "I'm sorry."

"No no no I woke up because I was thirsty and-" she pauses. "But yeah, I heard you guys. I swear I wasn't eavesdropping or anything! It just sounded like an argument. Because of us."

"It's not your fault. Nor Megumi's."

Yumiki looks at (Y/N), surprised by her stern tone.

"I promise it isn't." she continues. "Gojo and I just had a disagreement."

"You're both really good people." the younger girl says, more to herself than (Y/N).

"You're a really good person yourself."

"(F/N).. Yesterday, Gojo said that sometimes you were too kind for your own good. Do you really think that's not a thing?"

"Well, kindness shows up in different ways you know? I meant what I said though, I don't think I can ever be too kind to those I care about." she replies. "And I want to try my best to be there for them. But sometimes.. I'm too late."

Yumiki gives her a confused look.

"That's what I think at least." (Y/N) adds. "Everyone's different, and that's okay."

She smiles at the other girl and soon after, they make their way home.

"Hello?" Shoko says, answering her phone.

"Hey."

"Why are you calling me this late?"

"I need some help." the person mumbles.

"You? Gojo Satoru?" the girl laughs. "Sure, what's up?"

"I don't know."

"Are you drunk or something?"

"No I'm not. I just-" he pauses. "I don't know why."

"Get the point already."

"(F/n). She's genuine."

"Yeah, I noticed a long time ago."

"Her smile is so happy and she makes me feel so happy. She's just-" the man groans in frustration. "I don't understand."

"Ohhh the strongest sorcerer is all confused." Shoko teases. "I'm surprised you only noticed now."

"What?"

"You'll figure it out eventually." she replies. "I'm going to bed. Goodnight."

"Hey-"

The girl hung up before he could finish his sentence.

Gojo and (Y/N) were making their way to school together while chatting.

"(F/N)! Let's eat lunch together! Pleaseeee?"

"Sorry, I said I was gonna help out Shoko today."

"Can't you do that tomorrow?" the man whines.

(Y/N) gives him a dry look.

"No, I promised her." she replies. "Besides, shouldn't you be with your students?"

"They can still manage without me there." he says. "And we get to spend more time together. We can even go out! I'm sure you'd love that. There's a lot of girls that want to go out with me you know?"

"I'm sure there is. You seem like quite a player."

Gojo gasps dramatically and gives an offended look.

"How can you, that's so mean (F/N)-chan! Just because I'm good-looking and so many girls fawn over me doesn't make me a player!"

"Yeah yeah." the girl says. "By the way, I heard you were getting a new student. Yuta I think his name was?"

"We're getting a new student. Since you're my assistant. Because I'm stronger." the man teases.

(Y/N) rolls her eyes.

"His name is Yuta Okkotsu." Gojo says. "Seems like he has some pretty strong powers."

She looks at him with curiosity.

"You should come tomorrow! And meet him with the other first years!" he adds, seeing her expression.
